Niagara Falls Vacation #3 - Going Behind The Falls
Part 3 of Christmas in Niagara is going to show off the falls a lot more. with the trip I had a few things planned like the journey behind the falls, this is a trip I have done a few times but like I said it was also in the summer and we really wanted to see how the winter looked.
So down the tunnel we go, it is about 150-180 feet below ground to the old tunnels. This is where you get out of the elevator and you can head down the cold damp walkway towards 3 look out points. In the summer you can see 4 but the lower deck was closed due to massive ice build-up from the flash freezing.
The first set of photos is of an old mining tunnel that has since caved in and closed, I don't remember ever being allowed down this tunnel
The second set of photos is the falls, this is just above the lower deck, and you can see how the water froze into solid pieces. The windows to look out the right side have all been closed off with snow.
The third set of photos is the side of Niagara falls, the mist was really thick that day so it was harder to see the falls
The fourth set of photos is the next tunnel, they don't let you get too close on these ones, and for good reason, as the whole floor was just coved in ice, as you can see this was right behind the falls and they are still moving quite fast.
And the fifth and last set of photos for this post is the last tunnel, which is a little further behind the falls like the second tunnel was quite icey but had a great view of the falls. They moved so fast at this point you can't even see them move but they are.
Thanks for enjoying my Niagara falls post, next post is photos from the incline rail and more

Guao sí que disfrute tu publicación. Es un espectáculo total con tanto hielo cubriendo casi todo.
Wow I did enjoy your publication. It's a total spectacle with so much ice covering almost everything.
I've always wanted to see Niagra Falls in person. I dont think I would go there in the winter time though, that just seems crazy cold to me.
You gotta go, the Canadian side has more to offer in ways of games and things but the states side has a park not sure if you can camp or not.
I always go in summer and this year was actually warm till the day before we left we had a flash freeze and massive snow storm
I would prefer to visit when it is summer. I can’t stand being cold.
Holy crap that is cold! Cool photos man, looks like a great time:)
Yeah Niagara is always a good time. This was the coldest days from the flash freeze we had
These photos are incredible. I really liked the photos you took inside.
