Gifts that are close to heart, and personal - A meetup that has endured the test of time!
Overwhelmed is an understatement of how I felt last evening!
I have quite a few posts that have backlogged which I need to post soon - a couple of Travel posts from our recent trip to cox's bazar, a coffee analysis (more like re-analysis) of "Tabaq Coffee" and a long awaited meetup (FINALLY) with some of my closest fellow hiveans! But something more important has come up, something very close to heart.
My wife and I just recently celebrated our first anniversary a few days back, literally days before the meetup yesterday actually! We met at Tabaq yesterday evening and later moved to "Robindra Shorobor" for some late snacks, which turned out to be dinner lol! While we moved, @zayedsakib and @drivingindevon disappeared for a very long period. As we waited for them at our destination and I was delved in deep conversation about the prices of BTC and HIVE with @notacinephile
The two reappeared after a while and handed us two beautifully wrapped gifts! It was unexpected, it was beautiful! I know I should say a lot more about the gesture, but words evade me at this crucial time. Everyone had chipped in for two of my most favourite things - I can't thank you guys enough. @riz611 @annabeth @sarashew @rafa-noor @r-nyn @rehan12 Sakib, Sam and Amor bhai - Thank you for making the both of us feel so special!
It is common knowledge to most of the people I interact on hive that I am a "coffee freak!" I absolutely adore coffee and I love drinking it at nice places, or just by the balcony on a windy or a rainy evening with my lovely wife! Sakib knows I am a bit picky when it comes to things I am passionate about and coffee is one of them. I am especially picky when it comes to instant coffee. There are only a select few brands I will truly like. I will drink almost anything coffee if it is served to me, but I will really like only very few brands. Davidoff is definitely one of them. I never told this to anyone, I don't know how he figured this out. But that's exactly the coffee he got!
Of course we weren't going to wait and we tried it this evening! The taste was absolutely on point - the bitterness was just enough to get the kick settled in! Even @docineffable, who usually destroys her coffee with sugar went easy of the white powder! We are planning on trying a new technique on the coffee some time this week because I don't have my espresso machine with me here at dhaka to steam the milk. We'll see how the experiment goes.
Lesser known fact is my love for perfumes! This is a hobby of mine and on hive, I think about 4 or 5 very close people knew about it up until yesterday. So the perfume that was wrapped in the other package is a very, very personal gift! And kudos to @drivingindevon for her perfume selection! Although Sakib claims he played a part in the selection, I am less inclined to believe him! I have already started wearing it from today and I will be wearing it extensively over the next few days before I write a proper, fully detailed review on it - but first impression is, I loved it! Spoiler - it goes very, very well with the rainy and windy weather like today.
I will try to get better snaps of the perfume bottle when I am ready to write the detailed review on it. For now this will have to do as I don't have electricity in my area for the last hour and I can not wait as I'll be off for my night shift in less than an hour!
It was a much needed meetup, for every single person who was present there.
We'll always have these small chats on the chain, some voice meetings on Discord, but a true meetup face to face is essential. We're humans after all, all this advanced and new communication gadgets/platforms and thingamajigs may keep on improving the way we communicate, but spending some proper time together, true companionship, will never not be important.
I say such social gatherings every now and then are vital, and that is why we should never miss a chance to meetup with the people we care about.
Spoke my mind bro! It was such an enjoyable get together that all the way back my wife and I were just talking about it, and how quickly good times fly away! We're really looking forward to the iftar we planned yesterday.
I wish travelling between cities was much easier so that the rest of us could also join us more often whenever we have these meetups.
I think it'll be successful, hopefully the timing is right for everyone, then we can all surely attend.
That's the only issue. We know what kind of a city Dhaka is, it's surely not "travel friendly". The traffic, the cost, it's all too outrageous. But I think we can pull off a good Sylhet tour after Eid, anything outside of Dhaka is always a positive for me lol.
Yeah, when it comes to Iftar we need to take into account a lot of issues...traffic going to be insane just before iftar, that's a given. Then there's Tarabi prayers and everyone will have shopping plans. But I really hope we do pull this one off.
As for the tour after Eid, that might prove a bit difficult for us as I have just used up a pretty big chunk of my off days from my ward, and will be using most of the eid holidays divided between my and my in-laws house. And neither of us have been home in nearly 4 months, my wife even more. So I intend to plan the way we can spend ample time at her parents' place this coming vacation.
Hopefully everything falls into place and goes as planned.
I can't tell how things will go then, with office work and the usual routine, then the streak of dawats right after Eid too. But I am looking forward to it, I sure as hell need a proper vacation.
Forget about gifts.... We were gift to each other; the most precious ones. Especially, you, her, and rehan bro- as the rest of us had met earlier. Thank you guys for your benevolent appearance outside of the hive :p
About the gift, I was suggesting dolls as a hint for gifting us the fleshy one. Wen vatija? Hahaha.
Although it was short-spanned, we had fun. Hopefully, we will meet again; someday, somewhere.
It was a real fun evening for the both of us too! It's a shame that you will be leaving so soon after we just started to get to know each other better. But we will soon be meeting you in the UK inshaAllah!
Pray for me so that I don't face visa rejection. I submitted my docs today and now it's time to wait.🤞
If you guys are moving overseas, who will treat these poor souls? But that doesn't mean I am against the move, just jealous 😂
All the best bro, we pray you get through the hurdles in one go inshaAllah! When do you expect to hear back from the embassy, 3 weeks?
Telemedicine bro! @minhajulmredol has good experiences with it I hear 😉😄
I don't know the exact timeframe but people say they make a decision within 30 days. As May isn't a major intake, hopefully they won't take longer than 3 weeks.
Hmm, a good alternative and must-have for smart BD.
Good luck with your UK plan bro 🤜🤛
It was really a pleasant experience to meet you all! Especially you, vabi and rehan bhai!
Bhabi has already become so dear person to us, and please doc, don't fool her anymore with your silly tricks :3 DU is really a soothing place and you'll enjoy the utmost of it if you pay visit charukola especially in this cozy weather. Try to go there in the lunch time and have fish fry with vorta vaat, you guys will love it for sure!
And let us know when you guys are coming JU. Eagerly waiting for that! 💙
Cozy weather? What cozy weather? It might be raining and all, but at DU the sun is scorching every last grass 🤣
Jokes aside, we'll go there sometime. But going to Savar and JU is higher up the agenda now haha!
I have had the food at one of the grounds opposite to a hall - can't remember the name. It was so cheap, and so good!
She talks about you guys all the time and has already been nagging me for a savar trip haha!
Charukola is at best in rainy weather! :P still, moving Dhaka in this harsh weather is a big deal.
Haha! Yes vabi, that's the spirit! You guys can make that happen I believe! Hope to meet you soon!
It was pleasure meeting you all.. especially the girls ❤️you guys were sweet and adorable. That was fun seeing you people pulling each others leg.
Definitely will meet up soon 😊
Aww thanks doc! I feel quiet proud of my taste in perfume now because of this! XD
But gifts are honestly not what matters in the long run. I was vibrating with excitement the moment the meetup was finalized, cause god knows how long I had annoyed father to arrange another meetup for our gang. And this time, you and Bhabi were the highlight of the evening! It's nice to finally put a face to the infamous Doctor Strange, of whom everyone had stories to share in BDC. Hopefully this is just the beginning for us all. There are thousands of more meetups waiting to be done and dusted if we all come together again.
See you next time Doctor. And don't dare to come without your precious wife! She is an angel and I even have a crush on her dimples!
Oh I am sure it is inshaAllah 😁 I wish it was much easier for the ones staying outside dhaka to get to dhaka, *sigh.
It was such a lighthearted and fun evening and it really didn’t seem like we were meeting you all for the first time.
We're still up for iftar whenever everyone's time matches. Give sakib hell till he makes that happen 😆
I better hope she doesn’t see this 🤫🤣🤣
She just doesn’t stop talking about how fun it was to get to know you all and I am sure she'll have even more fun the more we meetup!
Iftaar meetup needs to happen soon. Meeting all of you is like an addiction. Do it once and you can't wait to get back to it again.
Omg...um blushing literally ❤️😍 reading your comment.
U are an amazing girl inside out😍 Loved meeting you all. I think we should plan a day hangout.
We shouldddd!!! We really should!! Come to JU with us once in a while bhabi. You'll love it there and it's sort of perfect for a laid back day hangout.
Ok..done next meetup after Eid will be at JU insha'Allah 😊
I'm very much glad that I join that meetup.
Special thanks to you and your lovely cute wife.
I'll be honest, maybe I have a little crush on your wife's cute little dimples.
And as for you, I thought you'll be the same as the rest of the other doctors in Bangladesh --_--
Soooo....am I the same? 😂
Yeah I'm really glad everyone put the effort to make the time. I know everyone is busy, but it was such a special evening because everyone was there!
😂😂😂
Love you beautiful 😍
