Back again at "Poplar!"

The last time I wrote about my coffee experience at "Poplar," I vouched to go back there again for their top of the shelf egg tarts! Egg tarts were the dessert I didn't know I needed! And poplar being the only bakery I have found in the city that serves them, every time I am in the vicinity, I will always go for a tart or two!

I just didn't think I would be back so soon!

It was a sudden plan really. Due to the upcoming elections we are currently under 3 day strike and travelling or going out is a bit risky. So as we were having breakfast the day before the 3 day strike was about to begin, my wife and I decided let's just go out today as we'll be locked in for who knows how long. And within less than a couple hours we were off.

We were also hoping to catch some halloween decorations but halloween isn't really big here, hence no halloween vibes! We had lunch and after a quick stroll around the mall, we went to Poplar. I already had my dessert selected egg tarts, duh!

My wife went for a sausage bun which according to her was really good too. I however refused to try it as I wanted the taste of the egg tarts to linger around longer!

I however did try her "Iced Oolong Tea," and it tasted funny - but not bad really. I have never had Ooolong tea before, but it is something I wouldn't mind trying again. It had a bit of a medicinal flavour to it which wasn't too pungent or off putting, rather soothing really. I don't I would like that flavour in hot oolong tea though. Maybe it was the ice that blunted any pungency if there was any. As I said, I have never had it before so I can not compare. I myself was pondering going a bit adventurous as well. A sea salt latte looked like a very attractive option.

But I just couldn't decide how I felt about a salty latte. Hence I went for a safer alternative. And for me, after all the horrible experiences I have had with "fancy" coffee drinks, the safest alternative to a latte is a Cappuccino. I like how they always give a complementary brownie with whatever coffee you order. It's a decent brownie. But I personally do not like brownies too much. I skipped it and rather enjoyed a top quality cappuccino. Maybe someday I will be a bit more adventurous and try out the Sea salt Latte for a change!

I never imagined Oolong tea served with milk. I've always had it black.

The egg tart is intriguing for sure, and whenever you get around to string the Sea Salt Latte, please be sure to share it with us:)

Hmm I guess I need to try it without milk once to get the real taste of it. With milk it did taste like a child's drink in all fairness 😅

Will definitely do!
