The Vigna genus includes several species of leguminous plants, many of which are cultivated for food. These plants are valued for their nutritious seeds, pods, and leaves. Mung bean, often grown for its edible seeds and sprouts. Cowpea, also known as black-eyed pea or southern pea, cultivated for both its pods and seeds.Vigna plants can be either erect, semi-erect, or climbing. Many have vining growth habits, especially the cowpea and adzuki bean. Usually small, yellow or purple, resembling typical legume flowers.
