Ponderosa lemon

The Ponderosa lemon is a unique variety known for its large size and bumpy, thick skin. It’s actually a hybrid of a lemon and a citron, and while it closely resembles a typical lemon, it can grow much larger—sometimes up to the size of a grapefruit! The fruit has a tart flavor similar to a regular lemon, but with a slightly less intense acidity.

Ponderosa lemons are often grown more for ornamental purposes, as they produce beautiful, fragrant flowers and can thrive indoors in containers. Their trees can be smaller and bushier than standard lemon trees, making them popular for home gardeners.

They're less common in grocery stores due to their unique appearance and thick skin, but they can be used in cooking, baking, and making lemon-based drinks, just like a regular lemon.
