Hemidactylus flaviviridis, commonly known as the yellow-bellied house gecko, is a species of house gecko found across South Asia and parts of the Middle East. It's easily recognizable by its light brown or gray body with dark spots and a distinctive yellowish or cream-colored belly. These geckos are well-adapted to urban environments and are often found in and around human dwellings, where they hunt for insects attracted by lights. Usually between 8-15 cm in length. Generally light brown to gray with a yellowish underside. Commonly found indoors and around buildings, but they can also thrive in gardens and natural habitats.
These geckos are nocturnal and are known for their agility and ability to cling to vertical surfaces due to special toe pads. In some cultures, they are seen as beneficial for keeping insect populations in check, though others may consider them pests due to their presence in homes.
