"Torrita di Siena: A Charming Exploration Despite the Ailing Day"
Hello dear friends,
In these days, I haven't shared any posts in this community because I haven't been feeling well. I went through a short period of flu, unfortunately, the cold and continuous bad weather make me constantly unwell.
In today's post, I want to share some photos I took when I was in the province of Siena. Since some time ago, in this community, I saw a post about this place in Tuscany, intrigued by it, I wanted to see this village in person. I must say that this is also a beautiful place definitely worth visiting in Tuscany.
I'm talking about Torrita di Siena, located right on the hill in the western part of the Valdichiana. As soon as you arrive in this place, you can immediately notice its very ancient origins, as well as the aspect of a fortified village with mighty walls that once helped defend the Republic of Siena.
There are many points of interest within this village, including the Church of San Flaviano, the Theater of the Obscure, and the Town Hall. Throughout the year, as I understand, various cultural and folkloric events are organized, including a sort of "Palio dei Somari," somewhat in the style of the Palio di Siena, featuring a donkey race. There would have been an interesting museum of peasant art to visit, where objects and tools related to the local farming tradition are exhibited. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to visit it because I already had the first symptoms of fever and couldn't wait to return home to the warmth. It will surely be an opportunity to come back another time to explore this place more.
I managed, however, to take a walk through the streets of this beautiful village and capture various interesting photos to share with you. I must say that I really liked this village, and in person, it conveyed beautiful sensations to me. At every point in the village, I found interesting things and discovered small works of art hidden inside these churches and some points of the village itself.
I hope you enjoyed the photos, and I hope I did a good job even though I wasn't feeling well that day. I hope to have the opportunity to return when the "Palio dei Somari" takes place because I am too curious to see this event. In the meantime, I wish you all a good day.
