The abandoned castle! Frosini Castle
Hello dear friends,
During my vacation, as I had already mentioned in yesterday's post, I returned to Tuscany. Since I had to go near Siena, I decided to go see this place that a friend of mine had mentioned, a place that unfortunately, from what I saw, is partly abandoned, which is truly a shame because there is a very interesting story behind this castle.
I'm talking about the Frosini Castle located on the road that practically goes from Siena to Grosseto, in the municipality of Chiusdino in the province of Siena.
I was interested in seeing this place because I had been told it was a place of enchanting charm. Indeed, this place was once the residence of the Knights Templar, and you know that when we talk about that chivalric order, there's always something mystical and mysterious about it.
It seems that within the castle walls, at some undefined point, these Templars hid a great treasure. And apparently, over the years, it has never been found. Who knows where it could be hidden? As usual, I explored this place on foot, and I must say it was sometimes a bit unsettling. I always feel a bit scared going to these places, especially when they're no longer inhabited.
Although in reality, from what I understand, it should be a private residence, which until a few years ago was also open to tourist visits. But then probably after Covid, it was no longer reopened.
Let's say that in certain points, nature is reclaiming its space, and some parts of this castle, which if you notice from the photos, is more like a residence than a castle because it has been modified architecturally over the years. I also peeked inside parts of the residence that were open, and you can see that everything is decaying.
Unfortunately, pieces of plaster are coming off everywhere, and weeds are also growing in different parts of the structure.
I didn't find a living soul during my visit, my exploration, and it's a real shame that these beautiful structures are meeting such an ugly fate.
I hope you liked the photos I shared. This is a very particular thing that anyone passing through those parts can see. See you in my next post, and I wish you all a good day!
