Passing Through Marostica: A Delightful Visit Awaits!

Hello dear friends,

As I promised, today I'm sharing one of my posts, away from Tuscany, because as I mentioned, I have some vacation time to use up and took the opportunity to visit some friends and relatives who live quite far from me.
I'm not sure if I've already talked to you about this place in my numerous posts, but actually, I went to Veneto because I had to visit my dear aunt, whom I hadn't seen for some time, and I decided to stop by the walled city of Marostica, a place I already knew because I've been there several times before. I've taken several tourist walks in this village, but I also came here for business meetings with some clients.

But I was very curious to see if this village had changed or if it remained the same as before, so I decided to take a walk alone through its beautiful and characteristic medieval streets.

Yes, because you should know that Marostica is practically surrounded by mighty medieval walls, which fortunately have survived to this day, and one thing I will do sooner or later is to walk along the walkways of these walls, which is possible by paying, I think, a ticket of €3, but unfortunately, I didn't do it that day because I was in quite a hurry.
You should know that this city is known as the city of chess because here the famous live chess game takes place, an event that is held every two years in the square that I photographed in these pictures, and this happens the second week of September, but the even more beautiful and astonishing thing is that this tradition has been going on since 1923.

Essentially, costumed extras move like chess pieces on this chessboard located in the square, and this game can go on for hours and hours, with practically everyone around watching the game, and besides, it costs quite a bit to participate.

However, when I passed through Marostica, there were still some stalls selling the delicious cherries produced in these parts, unfortunately, the festival dedicated to this fruit had already passed, but there was the possibility to buy cherries to take home, which I did to bring to my aunt.

As you can also see from the photos, the streets in this village are quite wide, meaning that even cars can pass through, unlike other Tuscan villages that I have shared with you here in the community. In fact, I honestly prefer Tuscan villages because I think they are much more intimate.
