Food and History: A Visit to Castello di Celsa
Hello, dearest friends! First of all, I want to thank you for the kind words you shared for me yesterday regarding the tragedy I unfortunately experienced, but as we know, life must go on. So today I’m still here to tell you about another place I had actually already seen, but as usual, I didn’t have the time to stop and take a better look. But I want to start by telling you in this post about a place where I ate nearby. Due to work, I often find myself trying certain places almost blindly; I try to gather some information or maybe read some reviews, but some places offer new experiences, and this one in particular I really enjoyed. I liked it a lot because, lately, it’s quite rare to find places where you can still enjoy these homemade-style dishes. As you can see from the photos, the setting of the restaurant is very modern. However, I regret that I can't share my feelings about eating these dishes with you. After having lunch and filling my stomach well, I found myself in the afternoon with several free hours. This time I happened to have a very unreliable client who basically stood me up for our appointment. So I went to explore this castle called Castello di Cessa, which is a beautiful fortress located in Sovicille near Siena. I’ve been told it has also become quite famous among tourists. In fact, when I arrived at this castle, I found a few people there, which I wasn’t expecting on a weekday. Unfortunately, and this made me a bit upset, I can’t understand why the interiors of the castle cannot be visited since it is a private residence. However, as you can see from the photos I shared, the gardens and park can be visited, and I must say they are a place full of tranquility, and even though we are in the autumn period, they are still very beautiful. I must say that castles and their parks are my favorite places. Yes, I also love villages, but I really enjoy these places where it feels like you’re stepping back in time. This castle dates back to the thirteenth century and has been remodeled several times throughout its history, partly because this area of Siena has been a battlefield and partly because it has changed hands among several families, with each family making modifications to the structure of the castle. Today, it is primarily used to host conventions and weddings, and as I mentioned, it seems they organize weddings for 200 or 300 people, which is quite incredible. However, the place is truly beautiful, offering a wonderful view that allows you to see almost all the way to Siena. So, as usual, I hope my photos have been interesting and that you can also visit these places. Sending you a big hug, and see you in my next post!
