Exploring the Tranquil Village of Corsagna in Tuscany
Hello dear friends,
Today, I couldn't miss posting something, in fact, before returning to my sister's house to finish work, and check out the post I made a few hours ago, I passed along the Garfagnina road that connects Lucca to Garfagnana. I stopped to take some photos in Corsagna, a beautiful village located in San Vito in Tuscany, situated at about 400 meters above sea level, overlooking the Serchio River. Those who follow me may remember that I have already talked about this important river in Tuscany.
As you can see from the first photos, this village may not be super rich in monuments, but it certainly has an ancient history. It seems that the origins of this town date back to the Roman colonization of the area. So, you can understand how many years of history these places have, even though, in reality, as you can notice from the architecture of the village, its major development was in the high medieval period. What I like about these places are the cobbled streets that are practically only traversed on foot or at most with small vehicles. In this case, I saw a man with a three-wheeled car.
I exchanged a few words with this kind person, who also showed me the inside of the church that has been deconsecrated for several years and is no longer used. He explained to me that only two families live here as residents, and you can quite notice the state of abandonment from the photos I took.
It's really a shame that these places end up in such abandonment. I always believe that people should be encouraged to live in places where life is undoubtedly healthier and of higher quality. The slowness of these places, in my opinion, makes a difference; you harmonize with the surrounding nature. As you may have noticed, I also tried to take some photos from above to help you understand where this village is nestled.
Naturally, there are also many animals in this village, including numerous cats, an animal that I love, and several dogs. They live freely and get along with the people who visit these places.
From this village, I noticed that several trails start, and you can definitely go on beautiful excursions in the surrounding nature, especially in the many woods that surround this village.
As usual, I thank you for reading these lines I have written. I hope you enjoyed the photos I shared, and as always, I hope to have introduced you to a less touristy place in Tuscany. See you in my next post! I wish you all a good day.
