"Exploring the Tranquil Charms of Casciana Terme: A Thermal Oasis in Tuscany"
Hello dear friends,
I have fallen quite behind in posting, especially about the recent places I discovered in Tuscany and visited. However, I absolutely must share this experience because it was truly wonderful. Not only did I discover Casciana Terme, a small town of 2000 inhabitants in the province of Pisa, but I also had the opportunity to personally experience and understand why this city is so famous for its thermal springs, with a temperature of 35.7 degrees Celsius. Many people choose these springs for their therapeutic properties.
To be honest, it was a pleasant surprise arranged by a dear friend of mine. In the first part of the day, we experienced the thermal baths in Casciana Terme. The spa offers various treatments, some preventive and others curative. For me, it was a beautiful experience because it's an ideal place for relaxation and psychophysical well-being. Lately, due to work, I really needed to take a break.
During the summer season, one could explore the park, and near the pools, there is Villa Borri, an eighteenth-century palace with additional wellness services that unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to explore.
The entrance to the Casciana Terme thermal center costs around 14 euros on weekdays and 16 euros on weekends, which I believe is a fair and honest price considering the range of pools available. It's essential to note that these are not just ordinary pools but thermal water that can contribute to your well-being.
After leaving this paradise, I took my usual stroll through the streets of this small town, which, as I mentioned earlier, has about 2000 residents. Here, we find more modern houses where stone is less utilized, but each house was beautiful, especially with the Christmas decorations. I confess, I go crazy for Christmas decorations, especially the unique ones.
Returning to Casciana Terme, its origins date back to the Etruscan period, thanks to archaeological findings. Around 1100, a document certifying the therapeutic virtues of the local waters, especially for skin diseases, was discovered.
In the twelfth century, a castle was built, but unfortunately, only a medieval tower remains. Over the centuries, this locality has grown thanks to the thermal center, becoming an essential point of interest. Probably, a significant part of the economy revolves around this business.
I hope you enjoyed my photos, and as usual, I hope to have introduced you to a place in Tuscany that you didn't know. See you soon in my next post, and I wish you all a good day.
