Exploring the Hidden Gem of Massaciuccoli: A Nature Lover's Paradise
Hello dear friends,
today I'm making a quick post, but I couldn't resist sharing these photos I took just this morning during my hike in a naturalistic spot that I really liked.
This is also to let you know that I'm not just a lover of villages, but I also like those more naturalistic, maybe even a bit wild places, and one of these without a doubt is the Lipu Oasis of Massaciuccoli.
But where is this place?
We are practically on the eastern shore of Lake Massaciuccoli and here there is a 40-hectare nature reserve, which is a true natural paradise, and a place I definitely recommend to those who love nature, especially birdwatching enthusiasts.
I also like these places where there is an effort to preserve the environment and biodiversity, which is very important for us humans to survive. In fact, this place has been created to support all the rare species that live in this environment. As you can see from the photos I've shared, there are these wooden walkways on stilts that allow you to enter this place and observe in complete tranquility all the species that live here.
Unfortunately, I visited during a period that is probably the least interesting, but if you come in the spring, you can witness the migration of some bird species, and even during the winter when bird species from Northern Europe arrive here, completing their migration by spending the winter in this area.
To reach the Massaciuccoli Oasis, you can get there by car or train. By car, just take the A12 highway and exit at the Viareggio toll booth. In fact, right after the toll booth, you will find signs for Massaciuccoli, and this oasis is located very close to the coast.
By train, there is the Viareggio station, and especially during certain periods, there are special buses that take you to discover this oasis, which I definitely recommend visiting, perhaps avoiding the summer period when it is very hot here.
If you are as lucky as I was, at the Lipu center you can find volunteers who will guide you through the oasis, which is a very nice way to understand the various species that live here, because this is not always easy unless you are expert naturalists or biologists.
If I may say one last thing, one thing I definitely like about Tuscany compared to other regions of Italy is the attention and respect towards nature, and this is something that everyone should consider because without nature we cannot exist.
Thank you, guys, for reading this post, I hope the photos have virtually brought you along on this visit of mine. See you next time! Hugs and kisses!!
