Hello dear friends,

today, I want to talk to you about a very interesting guided tour that I did some time ago. You know I have this passion for participating in these guided tours that are organized, which in many cases give you the opportunity to visit places that are not always accessible to the public. This concerns many historical residences, such as castles, and in this case, a very important villa.

I'll confess something: I've always been very attracted to villas because I think they are places where you can find culture, art, and beauty, but in this case, also a lot of nature.

In fact, today I bring you the discovery of Villa Varda in Brugnera, a municipality of about 9,000 inhabitants in the province of Pordenone in Friuli Venezia Giulia. I participated in a guided tour with ten other people, in this predominantly agricultural town but also with many industrial activities, located about 30 km from Udine and 20 km from Pordenone. Here stands this 16th-century Venetian villa surrounded by a large park.

This villa, dating back to the 1500s, was built by the Mazzoleni family, a noble family of Bergamasque origin. I'll tell you right away that the interior of the villa can only be visited during these guided tours, occasionally, or during some village events.

As for the park, however, it is always open and accessible, and I must say it's a beautiful park where you can definitely take a very relaxing stroll.

During the guided tour, I was able to visit only a part of the villa, specifically the ground floor, because it has been recently restored. However, not much remains of the original furnishings. Still, the tour was very interesting.

After remaining in the hands of this family for several years, the villa was purchased by the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in 1972, and in 1990 several films and TV series were even shot here, which had a decent success in Italy.

Now the local municipality is trying to enhance its value a bit, and I think this is one of the most important things to do in such cases. In the end, it's the typical Venetian Patrician Villa. Certainly, what struck me the most is the park, which is truly vast and is practically a typical English park with paths, open clearings, and woods. I hope this part of the villa will be further valued; it would be ideal for families and picnics.
