Hello to all the friends of this fantastic community. Today I want to share with you a place that I have visited several times, but have never mentioned in this community. It is a very special place and I hope you enjoy it.

Unfortunately, you have to use your car to reach this place, as there is no public transport to get there. However, it is worth it because it is a truly unique and beautiful place.

Cison is an ideal place for excursions and walks in the beauty of the Marca Trevigiana, one of the least damaged areas in Veneto. It offers visitors various possibilities for exploring the area on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or, for those who prefer, by car. Mountain lovers can reach the Rifugio dei Loff, which can accommodate up to 10 people.

Cison di Valmarino is an enchanting location in the Marca Trevigiana and in recent years has become an ideal destination for nature and culture lovers. Included in the list of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages, this Veneto village has ancient origins, dating back to the 12th century, and many signs of its history are still visible today.

Cison di Valmarino is a small town situated at an altitude of 260 metres, with a population of just over 2500 inhabitants. The place is perfect for those who wish to spend some time in the midst of nature and relaxation. The town's history dates back to the Bronze Age and Roman times, as demonstrated by some archaeological finds. Cison di Valmarino is a pearl set in the province of Treviso, offering numerous cultural treasures to visit.

The parish church of Cison di Valmarino is a very old church, as evidenced by a document from 1170 stating that it was already a parish at that time. The present church was started in 1683 and completed around 1740, to be consecrated on 31 May 1746 by Bishop Lorenzo Da Ponte. Inside the church, with a single nave, statues by Marco Casagrande can be admired, and at the high altar, two angels by Antonio Bianchi. By Egidio Dall'Oglio, a local painter, there is an Assumption (copied from an altarpiece by Piazzetta now in the Louvre) and a Birth and Death of the Baptist. A unique feature of the church is that it has two façades, one facing west (the older) and adorned with the three statues of the theological virtues by Marco Casagrande (Faith, Hope and Charity), and the other facing east with the statue of St John surrounded by the cardinal virtues arranged in pairs. There is probably an allegorical meaning in this, referring to the political virtues of those exercising civil power, since it faces the loggia, the seat of administrative and judicial power.

Cison di Valmarino offers a variety of activities where one can rest after a walk, serving delicious products from the Treviso hills.

While strolling through the centre of Cison di Valmarino, one notices the presence of numerous fountains scattered in various places, demonstrating the strong link between the village and water. The Cison tourist board has done an excellent job in illustrating the history of the village, installing signs at each building of historical and tourist interest, to tell of their past and their role in the development of the community.

In Cison di Valmarino it is possible to take a beautiful walk along the Via dei Mulini, where a path has been created that accompanies visitors along the stream and next to the ancient mills, now restored. The water from the stream is used to power the mills.
