Bibbona, a village with 4,000 inhabitants.
Hello dearest friends,
Today, I am excited to share with you a selection of images that I captured yesterday during my visit to Tuscany, specifically in Bibbona. This enchanting municipality, located in the province of Livorno, overlooks the Tyrrhenian coast and stands out for its rich historical and cultural heritage. Its streets are permeated with a fascinating atmosphere, and I had the pleasure of capturing some of its hidden treasures with my camera. Every corner of Bibbona holds a story to tell and a beauty to admire. I hope that these photos can convey, at least in part, the magic and emotion I felt while exploring this wonderful Tuscan destination.
It is not the first time I have been to this place; by now, I know it very well, also because my cousin lives nearby. So, I have been visiting since I was a child. Oh yes, one wonderful thing about this place is that besides being a municipality with less than 4,000 inhabitants, it is located just a few kilometers from the so-called Etruscan Coast and therefore the sea. So, it is a place suitable for both those who love the sea and those who want to immerse themselves in history and art.
I have to say that the historic center is very beautiful. You can admire the ancient medieval walls, picturesque alleyways, and historic buildings. During my walk, I was also able to photograph an ancient container where wine used to be aged.
Some of these containers have been placed in the square to be photographed by visitors because you must know that even in this part of Tuscany, wine was very important and had a positive impact on the economy.
During my leisurely stroll, I could admire the town hall where, as I understood, there is a civic hall that is used for meetings. I also saw the municipal building, but as usual, what attracts me the most in these places are these cobblestone streets where it's easy to get lost because it's not at all simple to navigate through these narrow alleys.
I could also see the main church of Bibbona, which dates back to the 1300s. I also photographed the main subject of this small village, which is the pigeon. In fact, like many medieval villages, Bibbona is truly full of these pigeons.
The gastronomy, in my opinion, is another strong point. Although in this case, I couldn't taste the traditional dishes, in this area, there is certainly the possibility to taste delicious cheeses and cold cuts accompanied by a good glass of red wine produced in the vicinity.
As I mentioned, I can say that Bibbona is an ideal destination for those who want to enjoy a vacation focused on the sea, nature, and culture. In the end, the village offers a truly authentic and unforgettable experience.
As for transportation, the nearest airport is undoubtedly Pisa Airport, which is about 60 km away. Then, you can take a train to Livorno and a bus that will take you to Bibbona. Alternatively, you can also arrive by car because outside the historic center, there are parking lots where you can leave your car.
As usual, I hope you liked my photos, and I hope to have introduced you to a new place in Tuscany, with the hope that one day you can visit these places not only because they are rich in history but also because here you can always have culinary experiences and immerse yourself in true Tuscan tradition. See you at the next place, and I wish you a good day.
