I changed and loved all.
Hello wonderful people of the Teachers Lounge community. Hope you all are having a good teaching lives because that is what we love to do.
The teaching world is large and not an easy one, even as a teacher you still have to learn everyday both from your colleagues and even the student, the profession is all about serving others, dealing with different humans is one of the toughest thing but we teachers still find a way to cope with it.
I would like to share with you the experience I recently had with one of my student. In my classroom I had favorite students who are usually close to me because of their smartness and intelligence, I chat specially with them and was always willing to guide them, this was just normal for me as a teacher would love the smartest student in the class. Yes I took it normal but it wasn't alright for the other students, I never knew the rest were dejected and feeling rejected and I never noticed it, until a day when one of the student that feels they were neglected because they were not smart enough confidently approached and decided to ask me why I was always associating with the smartest and neglecting the average ones like them, I was speechless at that moment and never expected such thing to come out from the student, I told the student to not worry that from now henceforth I would associate with all.
I thought about that incident for a while and realized I was wrong for doing that, it had to change immediately which I did. The next day I had to call everyone one by one and had an emotional conversation with them and it seems that all the students were happy that day and was active all day long, we had some few presentations which I was amazed by the performance of some students who I never taught will be that good.
I learnt a good lesson and was happy that I changed. I discovered that as a teacher the way interact with your students plays a big role in their performance, you have to carry everybody along no matter what, whether one is smart or dull they are still your students, show equal love to them and embrace all like your child, this will boost their performance and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
That would be all for this post and I hope teachers from the community learnt something from my experience. You can also share your thoughts or similar experience on the comment box, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks @pusen for creating such a wonderful community, this was the right place to share the experience.
See you all in my next post.
Thank you.
That's a good life lesson. People are worth more than their knowledge and want to learn. I'm glad you had this experience and was able to grow from it.
