From 1916 through 1947, The United States Mint produced the Walking Liberty half dollar, a coin with a face value of fifty cents. Adolf A. Weinman created the coin, which took the place of Charles E. Barber's previous Barber half-dollar design. For the purpose of replacing the dimes, quarters, and half dollars, Mint Director Robert W. Woolley requested that the Commission of Fine Arts hold a design competition. The winning design was created by Weinman and included an eagle sitting on a rock for the reverse and Lady Liberty walking toward the sun for the obverse.

Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints produced Liberty Walking half dollars for the US Mint. On the face of the coin, immediately below the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST," the mint inscribed the mint marks for coins struck in Denver (D) and San Francisco (S). The mint relocated the mintmark to the back of the coin's lower left quadrant about halfway through 1917. For the year 1917, this led to the creation of two versions.

All three mints continued to produce through 1921. The mint occasionally produced half dollars between 1922 and 1933. From that point on, all three of the mint's facilities continued to produce them until 1947. A entire date and mintmark collection of Walking Liberty half dollars in circulated condition can be put together by an intermediate coin collector for a reasonable price. In uncirculated form, a full set of coins organized by year and mintmark should be the goal of an experienced coin collector.

Thanks for sharing! I've got some of these already on order, I love the walking liberty design! It's such a shame that the USA moved away from liberty on coinage to dead presidents.... Keep on stacking!

Wow, I can't wait to see it!!!
I too wish that they retained the quarters, but is good that they have the obverse design on the American Silver Eagles.

I like how thick the 2oz versions are. Nice chunky little pieces. Thanks for the gift! I made a post about it this morning Saver.

I do like the 2 troy oz versions, not to mention the little break you get in premiums. I'm surprised why some generic rounds are priced like coins, though.
I've seen your post this morning! Thank you... it made it to you!!! I am very glad!

I love the design. Lady Liberty walking towards the sun is a very beautiful image. And 2 ounces is a good amount to stack.

Yes our Netherlands house remains our main base but we might change it into something smaller (or a rental) in the future when we do like the Spanish life. But small steps otherwise my wife goes crazy.

They would not be coins in the real sense, hahaha! Consider carrying two-ounce coins. The gold coins are even smaller, which is perfect!
I am so excited. I just got word via text that my 2023 Gold Buffalo had arrived in my mailbox, and I can't wait to get home!
Hugs and kisses, sis 🤗

A Good chunk of silver feels nice in your hand! Excellent detailing - I like the eagle's feathers.

In regard to your's and @silvertop's comments below.......me? Personally, there is absolutely NOTHING like taking a 100 ounce bar and laying down and putting it on your lower abdomen as if it's straddling your hip bones! The weight is awesome and it makes me feel better if my stomach isn't happy. You should try it!

Thanks for sharing sis and have a lovely day! Love ya much!😘🤗💖🌸 !LADY
