Have I shown you this piece? It is a silver charm California Prospector down on one knee, panning for gold.

or the Highland Mint 1 Oz Prospector Silver Round,
or the 1982 GSM Silver Prospector Amazon Quarter Dollar Round...

Or the 1986 Sunshine Mint CCPMA Prospector Round...

And it all started with the

1925 California Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar!

Yes, it was in California that the Gold Rush occurred in 1849!

It was the most pivotal event in American history. It's not the traditional American tale of achievement followed by a willingness to keep trying and failing. None of this was true during the gold rush in California! Success depended as much on luck as anything else.

At that time, the rush for mineral wealth and the promise of quick money were quite alluring. It was a seismic event in the middle of the 19th century that changed the California's demographics and geography.

Discover how the Gold Rush led to the creation of California.

I've got one of those prospectors with the donkey. It is one of my favorite pieces because it is just so simple. I love all of these. I am hoping to hit the bullion store on Tuesday and pick up some more stuff.

Oh, that's so iconic!!! A prospector with a mule!
A strong, dependable pack mule was essential to any prospector's way of life. As the prospector traveled from one spot to another in quest of gold and silver, everything from daily rations to tents and mining tools was put on these mules.

Very cool post! I have that same Sam's Town silver striker too! I really like your 1925 commemorative half dollar, at MS 62 that is really nice. Having some prospector silver rounds is a must as a stacker!

The prospector in the charm struck it rich @silversaver888! 🤗
Not all would find the elusive Gold shining back from the bottom of their pan, but many would!😇
That’s all it would take to stir gold fever in the hearts of many placer miners!!☺️😊

When I realized I had gold in our own creek, I was out there all day for the little I panned!😇

And these prospectors were colloquially called 49ers. A their journey to find their fortunes led to the development and transformation of the State of California.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

I have never seen so many silver coins in my life, I only have four silver coins that my grandfather gave me, in a moment of economic need I was about to sell them.

If I could, I would love to have this passion of collecting silver or gold coins.
