Every week (give or take a few weeks) since I joined the #SoCalHive community in late 2020, I've been posting about #mycalifornia via the Show Us Your California contest.

We show what our California looks like in many ways - from photos to poetry, videos to artwork or whatever represents California to us!

There were plenty of times that I have won second prize and first prize; and lots of times that I don't win at all. But, I just keep trying.

The first place and second place winners are awarded HIVE!

Those who join in the weekly contest and win gets a prize token sent to them.

It's either SoCal Hive stickers, or SoCal Hive keychain, or a SoCal Hive drink holder/can Coozie or a SoCal Hive magnet.

I get a thrill every time I win because I know I'd be receiving mail... with actual stamps! I seldom see stamps used these days- only in cards and in personal letters. Sometimes I do not know if I join the contest every week for the chance of winning Hive or the joy I get in receiving the prizes. Maybe both!

You see. I love collecting stamps!

In case you are not aware, @derekrichardson is the founder of the The SoCal Hive community, which is dedicated to building and supporting the Hive Blockchain community in Southern California. But it is an ever-growing community and has included Northern California.

Looks like it got caught up in their mail sorter! That is cool that you have such a big community of people there in California. I wish we had something like this in Michigan. I don't really have the time or ambition to organize it myself. Maybe when I am retired!

It is not easy to organize a community and to keep it going and growing. I founded the Ladies of Hive community. A lot happens in the background that many are not aware of. It takes planning, creativity, patience, perseverance, and, more importantly, partners that are as committed as you are. Ladies of Hive is going strong with membership 7,016. It can be expensive too! You can start one while you are still working, and by the time you are retired, it will be big, !LOL

Thank you for your consistent participation @silversaver888! At one point in the early days of the SoCal community we actually had quite a lot of active members. Unfortunately in recent years it's faded off to just a handful or so. But it's those few active members, especially you and @brian.rrr that keep me motivated to continue. Thank you so much for that!!
