On the Sixth Day of Christmas...

Collectors are drawn to some bullion coins, such as the Perth Mint Swans, which are marketed as having a limited supply. The design, form factor, unique characteristics, or general popularity of the series are some of the factors contributing to the increased interest in the coin.

The Australian Emu Coin is another example.

Emus are unique to Australia. It is the second-largest living bird. It does not fly because its wings are too small, but it can run at speeds of 48 km/h or 30 mph! When running, emus flap their wings, maybe to stabilize themselves when moving fast.

The Emu coin is sovereign-backed by the Australian government. It is produced by the Perth Mint, which is Australia's oldest operating mint. It is made in an ounce of .9999 Fine Silver.

On the reverse, an adult Australian emu is shown standing atop a dune with waves in the distance. The design additionally incorporates the year-date, weight, purity, and the inscription "Australian Emu." The 'P125' mint mark commemorates the 125th anniversary of The Perth Mint.

The obverse shows Charles III's effigy along with the face value, date, weight, and quality. This is the first appearance of Charles III in this coin series.

One can buy a semi-numismatic coin at a fair premium above the metal's spot price while it is still in production. Though not by much, it could be little more expensive than a pure bullion coin.

The premium over spot increases after the manufacture is finished and the mint inventory is sold entirely. The premium goes up more as dealers' inventory decreases.

For stacking silver, there is no "wrong" technique. According to a proverb, "If you like it, buy it."

But the question is, "What is a better investment?"— numismatic silver, semi-numismatic silver, or pure bullion pieces?

The volatility of the spot price of silver is one technique to profit from stacking silver. And it's good to make money on silver as long as you don't spend too much extra for the opportunity, in my opinion.

I always thought the Ostrich was the largest bird, I didn't know that was that Emu bird, it is a very nice piece of silver.
Australia is on my list of countries to visit someday, hopefully when I can go, I will also look for some silver coins. I like that one.

I like the swan coins but never started them. But no thanks to the emu coins. Perth Mint does a nice job though.

Definitely, the Swans are so beautiful, @silverd510

SWANS2017-2024.jpg

The Emu coins started two years later. Perth Mint probably thought of developing the series after so much success with the Swan. But the mintage numbers are higher for Emu at 30,000 and the Swan is at 25,000.

No, I haven't seen it! I don't see commercials much except during sports events, so now I am curious what it is!!
The Emu is unique to Australia, so I am glad that the Perth Mint decided to start this series, @silvertop 😊!

This post reminds me to a good story my grandaddy used to tell me about coins and why people can't resist to love it all.

A lovely piece! Emus always remind me of two things: the old Washington state lottery where they take birds who can't fly, hang gliding : Birds

or the Liberty Insurance commercials: Emu

There's a ton of Liberty Insurance/Emu commercials, lol!

Anyway, I hope your Secret Santa is paying attention! !LUV ya much sis!🤗😍❤️🎄🎁. !LADY !PIMP !HBIT

There was a zoo called The Vancouver Game Farm located east from me that had a few Emus in one of their habitats. Up close they seem to have a stern expression as if we should not provoke these birds into anger in any way but they are gentle creatures. This was when my kids were very young.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

For a second I thought the Emu was the Ostrich which I have a few funny memories of from my childhood !LOL but I googled it and saw this one is bigger..

I think the coins are quite nice, even though I'd probably not be drawn to it myself in the first place, your collection displays a few quite nice rounds!

Hopefully Santa is watching! !LUV !LADY

The silver koala, kookaburra, emu, and swan - I collect these Australian coin series for their semi-numismatic value. And the silver kangaroo for bullion!

Thank you visiting, @thisismylife!
