The mythology surrounding the Kraken is thought to have started from observations of enormous squid, which can reach lengths of 40–50 feet.
According legends, the kraken, a mythical sea monster that is supposed to be massive in size and resemble a squid, is thought to have appeared in the waters between Norway and Iceland.
The Kraken is one of the most terrifying creatures of Norse mythology, a legendary sea monster that lurks in the deep waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. The Kraken has been described as a huge squid or octopus with tentacles that can reach more than a mile long and eyes the size of dinner plates. The Kraken can attack ships, drag them down to the depths, and devour the sailors as its prey.

The other is a depiction from the "Le Poulpe Colossal" by malacologist Pierre Dénys de Montfort, produced in 1801, from the descriptions of French sailors reportedly attacked by such a creature off the coast of Angola.

It has a different shiny finish on the upper portion of the bar, and the main design has an antique finish. This gives the effect that the Kraken attack on the ship happened on a treacherous, bright day.

Imagination runs riot in complete dark, being at sea in a tall ship with monsters appearing from the deep must have been very realistic to carry stories through passage of time.
Best reading matter normally to take ones mind on a journey into the unknown are myths, legends, unknown worlds with mermaids, fairies, trolls and gnomes.
