2024 South African Silver Krugerrand Coin

Some of us started stacking at about the turning point of the coin industry, when there was an upsurge of new coins. Many coins were introduced in 2017.

Among the newest silver bullion coins is the South African Silver Krugerrand. It was a part of the successful Gold Krugerrand Series.

The gold Krugerrand grew rapidly to become the top option for gold investors globally during the 1970s gold boom. Estimates place the number of gold Krugerrand coins imported into the US alone between 1974 and 1985 at 22 million. Other countries that produced gold were inspired to manufacture gold coins by the enormous success of the Krugerrand.

2024 South African Silver Krugerrand Coin (BU)

The 2024 South African Silver Krugerrand Coins' obverse features a bust of Paul Kruger in left profile. On October 10, 1825, Paul Kruger was born in Steynsburg, Cape Colony (now a part of South Africa). He was of German and Dutch ancestry. His enduring dedication to Afrikaner nationalism, the preservation of Boer culture, and independence were formed by his early experiences.

Coin Highlights:

  • 7th date in the South African Silver Krugerrand Series.
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • The face value of 1 Rand (R1) is fully backed by the South African government.
  • On the obverse is a bust of Paul Kruger.
  • The reverse features a Springbok antelope.

The 2024 1 oz Silver Krugerrand Coin features a picture of a springbok antelope on its reverse. The Springbok, an antelope species indigenous to the southern regions of Africa, has been featured on South African currency since the 1930s and serves as the official emblem of the contemporary Republic of South Africa.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand Series, the Silver Krugerrand was unveiled in 2017.

After its debut in 2017, the silver coin proved so popular that it continued to be included in the annual issue.

I love stacking the Silver Krugerrand since they are never over-priced!

Thanks to your post, I learned the word "pronking" today. Oddly, it has nothing to do with pron or kings. 😆 I think it will be handy to have in my lexicon, however, because it will replace the made-up word "sproinging" that I had always previously used to describe such behavior.

The Silver Krugerrand was a natural progression of precious metal coins after the gold coin @silversaver888!😊
A still need to add one of these to our stack, the Gold Krugerrand became very popular after bullion Gold became legal for US residents to own!😊
I remember selling my first Gold Krug.. for Liz’s Wedding dress… it was a good trade!🥰

That’s an interesting thought @silversaver888🤔
I’m hoping that when Liz retires in a few years we can build/buy a house on the eastern side of Washington the dryer side.
I have been contemplating the logistics of moving our precious metals……
Gold is so much more portable 😇

I held an original Gold Krugerrand about 6 years ago at a coin show, it was in an old cardboard flip and he was selling at a reasonable price , less than for a Maple Leaf in a private sale. He needed to cash likely for another deal on the side. I had a little bit of regret not buying it. I didn't have the cash at the time what an opportunity missed.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

When I started stacking, I had the same disposable income as today. It has always been that I love gold. But it has been a continuous struggle choosing between shinnies, and somehow I always end up with silver.

I had a goal of filling this tube, I should have started much sooner on gold but I got too focused on shiny silver. Not really a bad problem. As of today silver doing great.

Yes, not a problem at all, hahaha! I think it is time to sell my silver (those which I purchased from 2015 to mid 2020), and keep the money in CD when the price of gold has come down a bit. What do you think, sis?

I will continue to accumulate gold, watching for dips but also with price of silver on the move, I'll be watching the GSR too. I also have to keep an eye on the USD/CAD since my best gold buys were when the CAD moves against the USD. Considering the developing economic reckoning, we're still early in this Bull run on PMs.

Thanks for the confidence in me Sis.
This red cap RCM Tube is surprisingly small, designed to hold only TEN 1 Troy oz. coins if you haven't seen one of these tubes before.
To think $2,400USD x10 or $3,300CAD x10 of tangible wealth could almost fit inside my fist.

The gold Krugerrand has been around since 1967, I think, and is iconic. I heard your wedding gown was bought using a gold Krugerrand!
