1945 PCGS MS64 Walking Liberty
Many numismatists believe that the design of the Walking Liberty half dollar is among the most exquisite motifs ever used on a coin in circulation, and it has been a favorite since the coin's release.
The typical collector may easily locate specimens of the Liberty Walking half dollar, with the easiest coins to locate dating back to the 1940s. Sharply struck pieces are distinctly rare, but grades ranging from excellent Uncirculated to Good are readily obtainable.
1945 PCGS MS64 Walking Liberty
This one is not the most expensive but the most reasonable coin I can afford.
On the front, Miss Liberty is seen strolling in the direction of the sun, her left arm holding a bunch of branches, and her right arm outstretched, all while sporting a starry cape behind her. The date appears below, LIBERTY is above, and IN GOD WE TRUST is to the lower right. The motif seems to have been influenced by the motif created by Saint-Gaudens for the famous double eagle in 1907.
he reverse features an eagle sitting atop a steep crag, with a pine branch—a symbol of strength—growing from it. The words HALF DOLLAR are below, E PLURIBUS UNUM is to the left, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is above.

The Liberty Walking half dollar first came out in 1916. Adolph A. Weinman, a sculptor, created the design, which was produced sporadically until 1947. The Walking Liberty half dollar, like the other two new 1916 silver designs, the Mercury dime and Standing Liberty quarter, quickly drew in a large number of numismatic friends. Up until this point, the popularity has persisted.

I like Type-coin collecting style by acquiring a good example of a series rather than trying to acquire each year of a given series. We can avoid those expensive key dates.
Do the current Cupro-nickle US Half Dollars get a lot of circulation Sis?
Canada continues to mint 50 cents coins but they rarely go into actual circulation.

Half dollars have been produced since 2002, mostly for coin sets and other numismatic items. For instance, Philadelphia and Denver 2024 Kennedy Half Dollar Two-Roll Set, twenty coins from the Philadelphia Mint and twenty coins from the Denver Mint, totaling 40 circulation quality coins, are sold by the Mint (although it is out of stock at the moment). These have never been in circulation.
In short, the answer is yes—the United States continues to manufacture and produce half dollars, which are 50 cent coins having a face value of either 50 cents or half a dollar that are still legally tender. New half dollars are minted annually for collectors, even though they are not frequently seen in circulation these days. Whenever I go to the bank, I ask for them, but they seldom have any.

As a kid, I would occasionally find one of these in my Dad’s change, and we would add it to our collection!🤗
Your Dad was a collector too, I gather. I don't know if my parents collected, because I was clueless growing up, but my guess is they did not collect stuff, and were just busy in their careers, I suppose.
But, I think, I am collecting and stacking for my brothers and parents, I say. What will become of my stack... only time will tell!

The Walking Liberty is indeed a beautiful coin! Adolph A. Weinman's design is, I think, better than the St Gaudens design. But both are appropriate for the American Silver Eagle and the American God Eagle.
