And the wait is over…..

Afternoon everyone….

On Tuesday we were scheduled for a final inspection on the detached garage addition (my new wood shop). There were two final inspections scheduled. The first was a final on the electrical work, the second was for the actual building.

Our window was scheduled from 11am til 2pm. The electrical inspector came just after 1pm, it’s a guy Carmine that I’m very familiar with. He’s done a bunch of inspections for jobs I’ve done over the years.

We passed the final electrical inspection. Now it was still a waiting game on the building inspection. Two o’clock came and went, with no sign of Bob the building inspector. Just after 3pm he showed up, and was pretty cranky. I wasn’t looking forward to the inspection at this point.

But….

He asked for my set of approved plans. Did a walk of the building and handed me a sticker with the approval of the final inspection. I’ve had several dozen inspections from Bob over the years. He’s usually a really picky asshole on inspections. So I was quite shocked, when his final inspection went so fast and without any hitches.

I am really happy that this part of the project is complete.

Here is what the finished project looks like……

The walls are painted in a light to medium grey. The color is Benjamin Moore Metropolitan. The ceiling is done in Frost White.

The construction began on May 13th. So the total build took a little over ten weeks in total. This project however began on April 3rd of 2022. It took me just shy of two years to get approval from the state. I was into this project for over $48,000, before a shovel of dirt was taken, between architects, engineers, surveyors, and state application fees.

The projects total cost was $196,800 for what you see in the photos. Now it’s a matter of making some money to purchase the tools I need to make this shop efficient and productive. My ballpark figure on that is another 40-50K.

I forgot to mention the fact that I sold 264.30 ounces of silver in order to come up with the final installment payment to my contractor. Luckily I sold when silver was over $31 an ounce.
