COOL DEAL
Hello everyone, hope you all are having a good time here on Hive...
Hmmm where do I start from... Okay, I use to be a music lover from way back I mean my love for music is so deep, I started from the children choir which I was opportune to lead most of our songs then, good old days, I graduated to the teenagers choir and now to the Youth choir/ Main choir. During this process, immediately after my secondary school back then in 2011 I had the privilege to learn Guitar, but then I was just an intermediate player.
So, in my church we had this brother who knows how to play very well, I mean he's a professional, he plays for notable musicians in town, with this I don't have playing time at all as he does the playing while I just watch, and of cause am the shy type with little or no confidence to face the crowd, so I usually sit back and watch him play although in my mind I wish I know how to play like him or even more.
During one faithful and blessed Sunday like that, Bro Steve (our Guitarist) could not make it to church due to some reasons best known to him... And then I had to step in, it's my first time playing in Church, what did you expect, my lack of confidence increased by another 50% my hands started discharging sweats in no time but again I said to myself this could be an opportunity so I summoned courage, I was like "Today we die here"
I put in all my best, though the ministration was not as perfect as when he used to be around but I know I tried when the choir master and some choristers applaud me for my great performance, they were like "Bro Shola, so you could play guitar this much, but then you'll be doing like a novice..." I just smiled.
As if that was not enough, after the church service, one of the big men in our church sent for me on getting there, he appreciates my performance and said if I wouldn't mind can I teach one of his child how to play? (within myself, I was like me?)
Then he said how much do you charge?... (Ahhh charge? I said to myself again) I don't even know what to say, so I just said "any amount is fine since it's coming from you and not an outsider sir", at first he smiled and said will I manage 15,000 naira per month. (God, I can't just believe my ears, did I just hear manage 15,000? for an intermediate and a shy player like myself?)
I took a deep breath and then I said it's fine sir. We agreed that the tutorial will last for a period of five months, three times a week. Plus him sorting my transport fare...
That was how I got my first endorsement, my first deal... Lol
Since that day I made up my mind to work on myself in becoming a professional guitarist cus if I could earn that much as an intermediate player meaning there's tendency for me to earn much more if I can play better...
I also learnt to be confident and courageous, as they are vital keys to a successful life.
Nice story. !PIZZA
