If I could witness some historical event, choosing exactly the date and place, I would like to go back to October 23, 1906, to the city of Bagatelle, which is located in Paris. The big reason? It was the day that “14 BIS” made its first flight through the skies, or nearly so.

In case you don't know or don't remember, the "14 BIS" was the first heavier-than-air plane that managed to take off, using its own mechanics, therefore, it managed to travel 60 meters with a duration of 7 seconds in the air, something very quick, but which was a milestone for all of aviation from that moment on.

image.png
Source

The first plane to be able to take off by its own means, was created by a Brazilian (just like me), being built by Alberto Santos Dumont and in the image below we can see a little about its specifications.

image.png
Source

Ok, but why did I choose this historic event?

Because of its creator Alberto Santos Dumont and because of the historical and evolutionary milestone that this event was. It is something that is remembered even today and this memory will probably be eternal, of how he contributed to humanity's development.

Known as the father of aviation, he was not exclusively related to planes and the skies, as we can see in this excerpt below:

He was the first to create air navigation – a much broader concept, which consists of driving an aircraft, instead of being driven erratically by it. The first to fly with an explosion-powered engine; the first to have a certified flight; the inventor of the opposed-cylinder engine (still used today); the first to manufacture an airplane in series; the inventor of the wristwatch; the forerunner of the free patent; the first to bring an oil-powered automobile to Brazil.
Source

A person totally focused on evolution and innovation, I believe he was one of the greatest and most recognized Brazilians the world has ever known, so much so that he is still remembered for that today, in history books, museums or anywhere else, there is always a mention of his genius and unbelievable accomplishments.

Surely another lesson we could learn is something that is already routine: never give up on his dreams or goals. I wonder how many times he was called crazy, or how he was told he would fail every time he tried to take off or create any of his inventions.

It's a good thing he didn't listen to these people and went ahead with all his intellect to create so many revolutionary things.

image.png
Source

Now, let's stop to think: if you imagine that in 1906 modern aviation began to take its first steps, today we have rockets and satellites in space, we have images of various stars, planets, from the void of space to black holes. We have robots walking around on Mars, taking pictures and maybe all of this started on that October 23, 1906.

Human evolution in this regard was incredible and we never stopped trying to improve our inventions to bring comfort and save time with the displacement of people or cargo between cities, or even across continents.

So being there would be something like that for me, kind of magical, surreal, exciting and inspiring, like: get your ideas off paper, go after what you believe in and that will improve the world. Being an inventor is something incredible, being able to create innovations that will help everyone from a given moment into the future, being eternalized in history, all of this just shows the strength of a dream being fulfilled.

And well, crazy as I am, I would love to get to Santos Dumont and ask if I could take a ride in his 14 BIS, it would certainly be a unique and fun experience. 😂

Hehehe. Riding with Santos Dumont would also have had your name captured in history, well that would have been nice but it's not too late, you can make your own discoveries and inventions too Thanks to God there are foundations already laid down by many in different fields for us to build upon. Like the legend, follow your dreams and don't allow the opinions of men take you off track.

It would have been incredible to have flown with him haha, but what you said is the absolute truth, we must chase our dreams without fear and do our best with great determination to achieve our life's goals! Thanks for the comment!

wow you seem very passionate about aviation. by any chance are you a pilot or dreamed of being one O.O. anyways this was an interesting event to choose and came with new historical knowledge probably for most people. Thanks for sharing!

Well, I never really imagined being a pilot, but it must feel good, traveling through the clouds in the skies. I've always liked aircraft, despite not taking this branch so deeply, but I believe I was also more interested in seeing how it works, models and news that may be coming.

I'm glad you liked my post and thank you very much for your comment! Thanks!

Hehe. The experience of the flight would certainly be unique and exciting.

I didn’t know anything about aviation history. The post was informative for me not only with regard to aviation history but also about Santos Dumont. An incredible man, indeed.

Many of the inventions we take advantage of today were worked on by the people who were called crazy.
Not giving up on the Dreems is the key. The Dreems with open eyes make us do what otherwise was impossible.

Nice post 👍

Hello, I am very happy that you liked the post and that you have brought some new knowledge, it is always good to learn new things! Really, the inventions we have today were once a dream of their inventors and it's a good thing they didn't listen to negative thoughts and words.

I can say that I feel this in part, because when I talk about the hive to other people, they call me crazy or say that it will never work, but I don't listen haha, it's already working and I'm very happy!

Thanks for the comment, I hope you come back more often! A big hug!

I wrote about the Wright brothers... They were able to make the first powered successful airplane. These guys had a lot in them to stomach. They knew what they want and went all in.

I didn't know about the Wright brothers until I made this post, so some members told me that they were also pioneers in inventions and creations for humanity and that's really cool, the important thing is that we can always evolve and improve everything we have to disposition.
