That one life hack
One thing I've not been able to manage over the years is time, I love to sleep. If there was anything like a sleeping competition, I probably would be among the top 3. I honestly can't tell how I got addicted to sleeping but it can be traced back to my childhood. On several occasions I almost missed my examination in school because I couldn't get enough sleep, especially when the paper was to be written in the morning. I know there are people like me out there who still struggle with time or sleep. I was hoping I'll get rid of it after my Primary School but that didn't happen and I hoped the same after my secondary school and again I still found myself wallowing in the same habit.
After my secondary school I realized the main cause of this was the comfort I was enjoying. Once such comfort was taken away from me, I was able to manage time effectively to some extent. The more comfort I enjoyed, the more I lazed around and the first hack to my sleeping habit that I had battled with for years was to take away the comfort that surrounded me. I set multiple alarms with different intervals. I allowed each alarm to wake me up at set intervals. It was discomforting at first, denying me my lovely sleep but over time my body system started to adapt. It took a long time but I learned over time. Alarm seems to have been the solution and once I know I have things to do , I set an alarm. This trick had saved me from missing time.
One trick I used in dealing with procrastination and lateness was to shift the hands of my clock 20 minutes backward. Looking at my clock which is 20 minutes faster helps me get ready before time. So whatever I want to do, I don't use the clock others use, I prefer to use the one I've set and this has helped me attend meetings, or events earlier.
