Introduction

Splinterlands has recently announced their 5 years burning event! I wasn't a part of the whole 5 year journey but after seeing how many projects have gone to the ground because of the bear market, I think we should be appreciate of how Splinterlands has stayed standing after all these years. I just want to cover some thoughts on the great burning and guild power~.

Thoughts on The Great Burning

Honestly, I think this is a great idea. A lot of people have been complaining that it's a whale event and it's not for just normal players but I totally disagree with that. The top 10 prizes are big to incentive people to burn a lot of DEC and I don't see anything wrong with that. It's fine if whales are going to burn all this dec as it will help the price of DEC go up and supply of DEC go down. In the end, it will help DEC get back to peg and eventually we will need burn SPS to get more DEC. Basically this benefits the whole ecosystem in the long run so saying it's just a whales event is a bit under sighted. There's also raffling prizes and you may have a chance to win. If you already have to donate DEC to your guild, I don't see why you wouldn't take advantage of this event.

Furthermore I liked the idea of giving more points for the leaderboard in the early stages. This gives people that burned early a better chance than having someone in the last minutes take the win or even take a few spots like last time with the sold Chaos Legion packs leaderboard.

Personally, I will be participating in this event. I already needed to use DEC to upgrade my guild and I feel this is a win-win for me since I'm now even having a chance to get prizes for burning DEC to upgrade my guild. I think it's super generous that they are giving away $150,000 in prizes to be given out. I'm really hoping to win a runi from the raffling. If I do, I will be so happy!

Guild Power & New Guild Buildings

I Know I've mentioned this before but I think guild power (GP) is a great change to the currently guild upgrade system. I like how they made it so if players leave they can take the guild power with them. There was a lot of dead or inactive leaders in guilds when I first joined Splinterlands. I didn't want to donate to upgrade buildings because of this as a new player. It would basically just be losing that money I put into a guild so I'm glad that they made this change. It will be super helpful in helping players to donate to the guild. Even if they get kicked out unfairly, they can take away 90% of what they put in which is more than fair enough.

I'm super excited for new guild buildings. I know a lot may not like the idea because of needing to spend more DEC to upgrade but you know it is what it is. There will definitely be benefits of these new buildings that are worth upgrading. I like how the guild system is being improved as this is one of the core things that are going to keep new players here. If we have friends to play the game with, it makes the game a lot more fun even though there's some unfun stuff happening with all the botting going on.

Concluding Thoughts

In conclusion, I'm super bullish about The Great Burning. I've already prepared my DEC and trying to see if I can get more. I'm super excited to see what's to come in the big updates this coming month of June. I hope everyone is ready to be shocked because I'm sure it's time. Splinterland said they will deliver and I hope we will see this delivery power at 2000%. The team is great and we should believe in their vision of the game.

There's a lot of focus on tokenomics right now but I think this is necessary for the game to be sustainable in the long-term. There needs to be a balance of people that just want to enjoy the game and not take money out of the ecosystem. As long as Splinterlands perfects this we will have probably the best play to earn game in the world. Graphics and everything can be improved in the future no problem; I can't wait for battles 2.0.
