Lychee is a tropical fruit native to Southeast Asia, belonging to the soapberry family (Sapindaceae). It is known for its sweet, aromatic flavor and juicy texture. The fruit is small, round, or oval, about 2-4 cm in diameter, with a thin, rough, and reddish-pink skin that is easy to peel. The edible part is a translucent white pulp that is sweet, juicy, and slightly floral. Inside is a single shiny, brown seed that is inedible. Sweet and fragrant, often compared to a mix of rose water and grapes. Lychee thrives in tropical and subtropical climates.

Well-drained, slightly acidic soil. The fruit typically ripens in late spring to early summer, depending on the region. Commonly eaten fresh, lychee is also used in desserts, drinks, and sauces. It can be dried (known as "lychee nuts"), canned, or juiced. Lychee is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and other nutrients like potassium and copper. It’s low in calories and high in hydration. Lychee has been cultivated in China for over 2,000 years and was once considered an imperial delicacy.
