Barleria cristata, commonly known as the Philippine violet, Crested Philippine violet, or bluebell barleria, is a flowering plant species in the Acanthaceae family. Native to South Asia, it is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for its beautiful and vibrant flowers, which can be blue, purple, pink, or white.
Opposite, simple leaves that are lanceolate to oval. Tubular with five lobes, often blooming in clusters at the ends of stems. Flowering is usually prolific and occurs in late summer or early fall. A small shrub that typically reaches heights of about 1-2 meters. Often grown as an ornamental plant in gardens. In some traditional medicine practices, it’s believed to have therapeutic properties.This plant prefers warm climates and partial shade, though it can tolerate full sunlight if adequately watered.
