Once upon a Weekend

Hello Everyone. It's been a few days on here, I have been so preoccupied and the National grid that keeps falling like a child with iron deficiency has not helped too.

This blog post is about one of the numerous weekend experiences I have lived when I was still in the university, the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University.

The day had been a very very long day, we were in the final year at last after studying a four year course for almost seven years, we had survived numerous ASUU strikes that forced our schools to close down multiple times due to the lecturers not reaching a reasonable agreement with the Federal government. We had also survived a worldwide epidemic that forced us all to remain indoors while the world battled with Covid-19.

It was all coming to an end in a few weeks after all, to say we were happy was an understatement.
I was studying Architecture and she was studying Psychology, she has been my unpaid therapist since our first encounter in 2018 when we were first assigned roommates in our 100 level days.

My course was so demanding, I was always working on one project or another and she was always willing to make time for me every chance I got. Aside from being a student she was also an athlete going from tournament from tournament. In all these, we always found time to hang out with eachother.

Whenever we got together we always laid everything bare with eachother, we were eachother's therapists and time just always ran by too fast.

We had many favourite spots inside the school premises but our all time favourite had to be the famous "Kose and Akamu" joint, close to "Akenzua Hall". As far as we know, the have the best Kose ever.

On this day, we had just finished our exams and we decided to spend the whole day together visiting our favourite spots on campus, one after another. We first visited the "Love Garden" close to the main gate and we talked about life generally, we took a long relaxing walk to the Kose joint and ordered for our usual.

We then proceeded to the ABU fountain and took a couple of selfies.

We took our time to enjoy the cool night and take in the scenery, the day was a very good day and we both enjoyed the day after all, thinking back to that day just brings back really good memories for me.
