Skokloster Castle surrounded by lush gardens and stunning scenery | Lake Mälaren | Drone Footage
**Have you ever been on a trip and felt like you forgot something essential or didn't plan accordingly?** We definitely have! It wasn't the end of the world, but it was definitely enough to ruin our trip. Hello Hivers, I'm sharing my experiences of visiting Skokloster Castle twice, the lessons we learned in preparation and planning, and how to make sure our visit goes as smoothly as possible.
PRE WEDDING SHOOT
We had to make a Pre wedding video of a couple from Uppsala. Everything from the location to a full day of filming and photos was all set, but a few days ago the couple asked to change the location. They wanted to film and photograph the pre-wedding title song at Skokloster Castle. I had never been to this castle and when I googled about it I found out that indeed this Swedish castle is the perfect setting for a romantic video or photo shoot. Plus, with its stunning views of Lake Mälaren, it's sure to make your wedding video or photos extra special. Getting permission in a short time to film at Skokloster Castle was a bit difficult.
SKOKLOSTER CASTLE
Skokloster Castle, located on a peninsula in Mälaren between Sigtuna and Arlanda and is surrounded by lush gardens and stunning scenery. But our journey to this beautiful place has been hard for us twice.
To cover this castle's stunning surroundings in the best possible way, I booked a photographer, a drone operator to film this shoot and a stylist @nazneen-ansari to create unique looks from head to toe, who coordinate with my staff and bride and groom, recommend the poses etc.
A drone camera was the couple's first requirement. We all drove to Skokloster Castle, 60 km northwest of Stockholm, in our own separate cars. And on reaching there it was found that the guy whom I booked for the drone camera forgot to put the drone in the car. I decided to do the photo session first and the drone show last. Thankfully they agreed. Now, if one of us went to bring the drone, it would take about 90 minutes to come and go. Luckily, the drone operator’s girlfriend was at home. We booked a taxi and so we got our drone delivered to Castle by a Taxi, it was the most expensive taxi bill I've ever paid in my life.
PERMISSION
We started our work shortly after the castle guards arrived and stopped us from flying drones. But by the time we had made a good amount of footage, that was enough for our title song. Thankfully, it all worked out in our favor and although running late, we finished up early.
In my case I should have asked my partner if he had packed all the equipment. If you're visiting a place like Skokloster Castle, which is located in a remote area, make sure you pack what you'll need so you don't have to worry about it once you get there.
SECOND VISIT
I thought why not explore this place again with kids but while approaching Skokloster castle my wife said there is no petrol pump here? And I found out that the car was completely out of fuel. I asked Nazneen why you didn't fill up on the way from Stockholm. She said, "I thought we would fill up on the way." Well as soon as we got to Skokloster there was a small pump but only offered Diesel and E85 – ethanol fuel blend. I was confused because we used to fill 95 normal unleaded petrol, so we parked the car and sat at Pitstop Motor Cafe next to the pump.
My mood was quite bad and I started making arrangements to return home from there. Whatever we wanted to order from the menu of this Motor Cafe, they did not have it.
Well they served us vegan burgers and fish and chips which was quite good.
Well, when I called a mechanic friend, he advised me to fill E85 – ethanol fuel blend for 10 dollars and drive to the next pump and fill 95 fuel from another pump. I was heartened to hear this. Now both the energy and the mood to visit the castle were gone and we preferred to go back after lunch break at Motor Cafe. But one lesson we learned is that the condition and fuel of the vehicle must be checked before going on a trip.
