Yes, I Broke My Hive Writing Streak
For the last 217 days I’ve maintained a daily writing and publishing practice. No matter where else I also posted, I posted here on Hive. That came crashing to a halt yesterday on day 217. I published on one of my sites so I still have a daily writing practice but the Hive part of it is restarting today.
I brought it on myself by not paying attention. So how it happened, which I’m about to write about is not an excuse. It’s what happened.
As you may notice, I’ve been working on learning more about podcasting and taking part in the #NaPodPoMo challenge. The idea is to do 30 podcasts in 30 days. That doesn’t have to be one a day, just as long as 30 podcasts are done by the end of November.
I decided to put my podcast on my own site and connect @aureal to the RSS feed from there and post on Hive. The first couple of episodes went through great. Then the third one didn’t work. I emailed support for the podcasting plugin I’m using on my website.
We went back and forth trying troubleshooting and me learning some things about creating podcasts along the way. One of the things we were trying to troubleshoot was to determine if there is a conflict between the plugins.
I deactivated all the plugins except the podcasting one, Published the post, checked to see if my feed was valid, then reactivated them and checked. Got the same result in both conditions. Sent another email off to support with the outcome.
I went on with my day as it was Thursday and I have both PYPT and then a Twitter Space afterward. Just as the Space was finishing, I suddenly saw vote notifications coming through on Episode 3. It was like everything suddently started working.
Friday, I had several other things to do along with putting up my DreemPort Challenge Post.
Saturday, I prepared Episode 4 and put it up. Checking back periodically as it seems there can be time between when I post and it showing up in the feeds. Later in the day, I got into working on something and then decided to have a chat with someone, completely forgetting to check if the feed had come through.
Later that evening, after the posting period for the day I ended, I remembered and looked. The post had not come through. I had missed posting on Hive yesterday. Instead of waiting for the feed to come through, I could have done a second post even if it was a d.buzz that would have made sure I was covered.
Oh well, lesson learned. This month is meant to be a learning month so that fits. I’ll continue on with my daily publishing. I also need to start a process of elimination to determine if there is a plugin I’m using on my site that is in conflict.
I may end up changing the podcasting plugin I’m using but I’ll work through the troubleshooting first. It’s kind of good that it’s being done at this time, that will shorten the time it takes to get through the list of plugins.
Onward and upward eh.

I know it's good learning but I'm still disappointed that happened to you.
thanks, I am too but this post puts me back in the Hive saddle and keeps me in the publishing daily one.
Such a shame about the podcast app not working.
Also, I know how you feel, I was really disappointed when I ended my own posting streak. It was hard to get into the routine, but by the 30 day mark it was engrained. After I failed to post one day, it felt hard to get back into it, but, we have to take it one step at a time.
November is the month! I'm doing NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo, which are both going well. Except for one thing. I didn't update my word count on NaNoWriMo on the 1st, so I won't be getting the badge which is annoying, but, that's okay.
!PIZZA
I'll get the podcast plugin working before this is over or I'll be using another. Especially if I decide to keep going after the challenge is over. I have all the rest of the 30 episodes setup ... basically just need to record them. So kind of almost halfway there.
Sucks on the badge but you know what you've accomplished.
Everyday is a school day, as the saying goes. It's great that you have it all worked out and know what each episode will be!
One thing I've learned is, there's always going to be mistakes and problems when it comes to creating any kind of media. The important thing is to move forward and get past the issues.
That's one of the reasons why I decided to start narrating other work, it's ready, I just need to script the episodes and record. Doing 30 podcasts in 30 days ends up being more learning and refining than trying to get to fancy.

I myself held a 7 to 8 month streak of one post a day, but that came to an end just a few months ago; thanks to some very real-life issues that I had to tackle. I haven't been as consistent since then, problems just keep popping up one after the other; yet, I am trying my best to stay active on the chain, whether it be through posts or comments.
I'll probably start with another proper streak, which may last for a few months or more, so I'm surely not rushing anything, balance is what I'm looking for.
And I know you too will be back with another big streak sooner or later, a few gaps are quite normal, we are human after all. Taking a break is sometimes necessary, even if you have all the time in the world; detachment from our repetitive lifestyles and routines can work like a good reset, just to come back stronger and brighter.
Good luck to you and your future streaks. 🥃🖤
Unfortunately, things happen.
I use Anchor as my podcasting app and have going great guns until yesterday. I tend to make podcasts later on at night after dinner when the house is quiet etc.
Well yesterday, instead of adding my backgroud music and hitting publish, I needed to pee so I hit save as draft...
I come back and add the background music, and go to hit publish but the publish button would not allow me.
Try as I might I could not get it to publish, so deleted the episode and did again this morning by creating a new episode using the old file, and it worked.
With all the Pallava I forgot to write a hiveblopomo post too!
gahhhhhhhhhhh that's a huge streak to lose - but congratulations on such an amazing run!!! I'm really proud of you for going so long - and i'm sure you'll be starting a new streak again! hehehehe
Thank you Dreem and yes, this post was the restart of the Hive streak. The publishing daily didn't break as I had published the podcast on my site.
