30 Days of April - Challenge Met
In January I completed my first ever post all month since being on the blockchain. I intended to continue into February but somehow that didn’t happen and then March was even less. Seemed I was wandering off course with my writing.
Around the end of March I happened into a Twitter Space hosted by @alessandrawhite and we got to talking in DM. She invited me to join her Creatives Work Hour.
It’s an hour each day where everyone who is participating touches base for a few minutes. We state our intentions for the hour and then fall silent to work on the intentions or whatever squirrel happens to drag us away. Yep, they happen.
About the same time, I came across @traciyork’s post about HiveBloPoMo Challenge to write at least one post a day for the month of April.
Hmmmm I thought… maybe I could combine the Creative Work Hour and this challenge to get my butt moving on writing more. Seems that idea worked.
As of yesterday I had published 32 posts containing 23,600 words. Most importantly, I published every day. I’ve written on a variety of topics but the last week or so the bulk of my posts have been building a guide for newbies getting started on the Hive blockchain.
Creating Content on the Blockchain is being written to help newbies take learn the basics of the blockchain. I’ve been shooting toward creating focused segments of about a five minute read each. This avoids overwhelm and lets the new person work their way through the posts at a pace that is manageable.
How many parts is it going to be? I really don’t know. I started out thinking a three part would do the job. Yesterday I published part 7, will be working on part 8 today and there will be at least two more parts.
It’s been interesting as I’ve worked on the parts how related situations have arose that have served to remind me of details I’ve not covered but could be helpful information. The day I was writing about how voting works, a downvote war broke out. I was so glad to see the post @dreemsteem wrote about rewards and downvoting. I linked to it so people could learn from it.
I’m going to try to carry on through the month of May with daily posting. I have some more things I want to write about once I think that the current series has run its course, for now.
How’s your posting consistency doing?
