A visit to St. James Park by the Buckingham Palace

A royal break in the city

Let me take you to yet another awesome park in central London, the most central of them all I would say. And that is St. James Park just by the Buckingham Palace.

If you have not read that yet, go and read it right now but the main thing you need to know about it is that all the time you need to see the Buckingham Palace is a maximum of 5 minutes and you can move on.

And a great place to move on, just across the street, is the St. James Park. When you get there, then you might want to take a little bit longer to appreciate the space and walk around.

The Diana Princess of Wales memorial Walk

This walk through the park was named in memory of Princess Diana after the tragic accident and her passing away. This was a big slap in the face for the English Monarchy. If you know the history of it all, you know that she was not part of the Royal Family anymore when she passed away.

And having to build memorials for her, because the public still loved her, it was for sure very hard to swallow for everyone in the Royal Family.

Always look around
Great place for family walks

The St. James Park, being next to the Buckingham Palace, obviously will always be on point and tidy. Because it is all about the status. That's why this park is such a must visit.

Not that other parks aren't lovely in their own right.

While this park has its charms, there are a few downsides to consider before you visit. We'll dive into those shortly!

The big lake makes it very pretty

Take a moment to look around and discover the various landmarks visible from this spot. Challenge yourself to count how many you can see and identify each one!

The most delightful aspect is witnessing how nature beautifully frames each scene. In the image below, what elements can you identify?

I have told you earlier that there are some downfalls about St. James Park, and for me, the biggest one is the fact that the place is so central and in such a popular area, with so many landmarks at a walking distance, that also makes this park a must visit place by literally all the tourists that visit London.

So the park it is always busy and full.

Not only that, but on top of all the tourists, since this is in central London in such a dense area, the Londoners and the locals, also take to the park. And that also contributes for the park to be always full of people.

Nature Life
The London Eye
Look for the best views
Appreciate the moment

In my opinion, the Buckingham Palace view from St. James Park it is ever better than just watch it from the Gate. But that is my personal opinion, that I talk more in depth on my post about the Buckingham Palace.

I have told you and showed you already the Lake and it is one of the best parts of the park, and it cover it almost end to end, so that makes the park so much more interesting, specially because it is full of nature life and a lot of different species of birds.

And if you are into that, you can look some more information about it all around the park. You will find specific information about certain species according the place where they usually are.

Let's not forget about the squirrels you can find around, if it is the right season.

Take in the beauty
”Tourist traps”

You will find some places around the parks, where you can get some pretty good looking ice creams, or drinks, or coffee and it is hard to resist sometimes, because if you are walking around, you might forget to get food or drinks and then you find yourself in the middle of the park, and having a blast, that you want something to make the experience even better.

The prices they usually charge, those are outrageous and I would never recommend to anyone to get anything in those. They are a "tourist trap".

Instead of spending your hard worked money in those quiosques, take that time to look at the nature around you and appreciate every single moment and scenery. That is so much better. And will stay for life.

That ice cream will finish, and all you will take from it, is the memory of how expensive and disappointing it was.

But don’t feed the animals

If you have the time, take the time to just enjoy the experience, the space and the nature. This place is great, but not the best. There are some other parks better to relax.

And when you are visiting, remember that making memories and enjoying the life in the places you visit is the best part. All the mainstream places to visit are cute but the biggest part of it are overrated.

In general, because of it's location, in my opinion it is worth the visit.
