How to create better Photography Posts

Beauty in Flowers

Maybe this is strange but I feel that each flower have their own personality and when I am capturing pictures, I tend to first just stand there for a while looking and appreciating the flower, before I start snapping.

I always want to get the feel on how I will be creating the image. I want to know how I would like to show each flower, so you can feel what I feel when I am taking those photos.

Do you also get a different feeling from each different flower or is that something that only happens to me? I am curious to know.

And this comes from someone that not many years ago, had no interest in capturing flowers at all. Nowadays, I found it to actually be a very interesting subject when done properly.

Diversity in the photos

I also feel that sometimes, photos of flowers, can be very generic and repetitive and maybe for me that is the most challenging part.

So when I am capturing this images I also take in count the fact that I want to try and capture from my point of view, no matter if it is more "normal" or maybe a little bit stranger. What happens sometimes is that I end up with a bunch of very similar images and I can't pick my favourites.

So when sharing them. I would recommend you to not create a unique post with only one type of photos, specially if you want to share multiple photos from the same photo that are very similar. I would recommend you to work on something that is more diverse, where you offer other types of flowers and images as well, so when people are reading, they don't lose the interest and want to come back for more.

And remember, that not all the photos that you take are worth to share! They might look good in real life, but for some reason, sometimes when you are creating you think they look better than they actually do.

Like these 2 images below, the field and the whole area looked really great, the flowers were beautiful and I thought I had a couple of pretty and interesting photos. But as you can see, I am sharing them here with you as a bad example. I would not add this to the post if I was going to post only photos that I likes. They turned out looking lifeless and boring.

Framing, composition, focus, light and angles

These above are just some of the things you can change and try when photographing photos to make sure you came up with different types of images. That although might be from the same flower but will make them looking interesting for the people to look at, keep scrolling and not go away because they were bored of seeing multiples photos that all look the same.

Macro and details

If there's something interesting about flowers, is how cool and how many details when you see them up-close. So adding a couple of those photos when you are sharing images of photos can enrich the post a lot.

Because sometimes when people are looking at flowers, they don't really take the time to look at those details. And that will make for a great reason for people to stay longer and want to read more, even stay curious to see what's the next flower and how those details will look on the different flower.

Because sometimes when you look at a flower from afar they still look beautiful but you might be missing on a big part of that beauty that is on the details.

Get close and don't be afraid of capturing all those beautiful and smaller details to share with the reader. Maybe it is something they want to see but they simply just don't know until they do.

In the sake of diversity, there is nothing wrong with sharing only one image of each flower. Or at least, have some images more "random" and casual that you can add to your post to make it pleasant and once again, diverse to the reader.

You can see below some photos I have taken on that same walk, but I did not got inspired to take more time on each of them, but I still thought they looked great and wanted for you to appreciate them as well.

I hope this have been helpful to you and that will help you create better blog posts. I have used the example of flowers in this post, but these same principles can be used with a lot of different styles of photos.

In resume, share only the best photos, make sure you have enough images, and also that you have a diversity of interesting images that will keep people reading. You don't want to get people bored when they are scrolling on your posts.

Hopefully. A post consisting of ten different angles of the same shot is hard for people to curate.
