A short visit and a little harvest from our garden

Hello, wonderful people of this amazing community. How are you today garden lovers? I hope you are healthy and kicking everyone. It's been a while since I haven't posted in this awesome community, enough that our garden will grow somehow for another round of backyard gardening. Allow me to share with you today our short visit to our garden and some harvest as well with my mother.

It was a lazy day for me because the weather seemed gloomy for almost every day this month. Suddenly, my mom called me for an important favor to ask from me. She then told me that we would be visiting our backyard and have some harvest of matured vegetables. Without a second thought, I went with my mom to our little backyard garden.

Our backyard garden is just a few steps away from our home. I already presented here in my previous blog that my parents made a fence in space and planted a few vegetables for family consumption.

And because it's rainy season this month, my parents planted another set of mixed vegetables with few corn. I was so delighted seeing them very eager to plant vegetables. In this way, we can save from buying vegetables in the market and ensure that we eat fresh vegetables with no sprayed chemicals.

As we reach our garden, the lush green leaf of our sweetcorns amazes me. They are healthily growing! And within a few months from now, these healthy sweetcorns will bear fruits. Hopefully, it will bear more fruits.

My mom went to the middle area because she would harvest matured vegetables. She instructed me to stay outside the sweetcorn because I do not wear sweatshirts and gloves for protection from the itchiness brought by the corn leaves.

I could see that vegetables were inserted in the middle of the planted sweetcorn. In this way, my parents could harvest vegetables when the corn was not yet fully matured. They have ladyfingers, eggplants, bell peppers, and some leafy vegetables.

While waiting for my mom outside, I could see that they also had growing watermelon fruit which bears one already. Near our backyard garden, the bilimbi tree bears a lot of fruits which are also good ingredients for cooking foods.

It was not a waste of time going out with my mom, I helped my mom carry a lot of harvested vegetables. It was a fulfilling daughter's duty when my mom asked me to help her this time.

Planting different varieties of plants and vegetables help us a lot in our daily consumption. Most of the time cooking vegetable soup is one of the favorite dish my mother would prepare for us. So, instead of buying from the supermarket, we will just go to our little garden and check out matured vegetables for harvesting.

That's all for today's blog my dear Hive friends.

Have a nice day everyone 😊

It must be such an amazing feeling to have this vast land where you can grow your food. I know that it can be challenging with lack or excess water at times, so well done!

It was not so vast ma'am but my parents made ways to plant mix variety of food crops.

Yes, during summer season, it's not easy to grow vegetables especially we do not have enough water source in our place.

The crops are looking healthy! This post made me miss the freshly picked vegetables from the province huhu.

Do you used fertilizers or pesticides to your garden crops?

Thank you so much for appreciating. I was amazed how lush the sweetcorn planted.

We only used animal manure as fertilizer for our plants. And so far, we don't use pesticides for the crops.

Maybe it's hard to have that vast land, but you can start by having an empty pot near your house. That's one way of making a small garden. 😊

What a nice color those plants have, it's a great crop you'll have there. Planting our own food is an excellent way to save on the purchase of vegetables and thus eat fresh vegetables, I congratulate you for dedicating yourselves to it 😊
