The Forgotten Harbor

On the dock's edge
I stand
waiting for an unnamed ship
with tattered sails
carrying passengers to a silent land

No call
from the seagulls
only silence
like a confession
from a world long forgotten

The sea no longer reflects
the stars
only murky shadows
sinking slowly
and the sky like a cracked roof
allows everything to collapse
sending signals
that this journey
was never meant to return

The ship docks
with a weary face
not to save
but to usher towards an end
its deck adorned with no hopes
only the dust of the past
showing that
each step upon it
is a retreat not a march forward

The masts creak
like an old tree
reminding that even the wind
grows weary of carrying messages
and in the distance
the harbor is but a faint shadow
a place where humans stop
not to rest
but to be forgotten

When I finally board that ship
I know
this harbor is not a destination
only a brief stop
between voids
where all meaning dissolves
like saltwater
stealing memory

At the ocean's end
there is no light
only thick fog
embracing the forgotten world
and I
like sailors before me
will vanish without a trace
absorbed by the darkness
of indifferent time
