Wet And Humid

avatar

Hello everyone! 😎📷

It's been a while since I've checked in with this community. My last post was two months ago. Maybe it's time to post something here again.

Today's topic is flooding, wetness, and dampness related to my field. I have already written about fieldwork in the Hive Gardening Community, but this is different.
Last week it rained quite heavily here and the river alongside my field started to rise.

Below is a photo of my field and tool shed from the beginning of October, it looks like summer, I was getting ready to clean up because we had already harvested most of the vegetables. Yes, there is no water in sight, the river Reka runs under the bridge on the right of the photo above, and at that time it was deficient, less than one meter deep.

Well, last week, on Wednesday, after four days of intense rain, when the rain stopped and the sun came out, I went to see what was going on. I wasn't too worried about the vegetables, because we had harvested most of them, but some winter ones were left.
I was more worried because I had left the motor cultivator and the lawnmower in the tool shed, and if that had flooded it would have been a problem.

The water rose more than two meters, to the edge of the field.
And the view from the road, actually from the bridge.

Of course, whatever is left in the field is soaked, I don't know if it will be edible, it will probably rot if it doesn't stop raining and the wind blows to dry the mud.

Well, thank God, as you can see, the tool shed stayed dry and the next day, although it rained a little again, the water receded, and the river returned to its course.

This was the first little bit of heavy rain this year. We'll see what's ahead. Nature plays its game.

Oh man, thats a lot of water. How is your shed holding up? Looks like it has managed to stay dry there.

Yes, the shed stayed dry, but it's still all wet, I just got back from recording one Greek band and it's raining like crazy again. We'll see what happens in the morning.

It's pretty intense. But thankfully the masses of water knew where the fun was going to end. For a few more days, though, the rubber boots will complete your outfit.

Exactly. But it's raining again. Mud everywhere.
