Three Tune Tuesday - Radio Mood

avatar

Hello, music lovers! 🎡

It's a Tuesday, so it's time for #threetunetuesday! And a chance to share something I'm listening to.
I often listen to the radio on my commute to work and back home, and yesterday, I did the same. I heard some songs that I didn't know before.
Now that I'm home, I will spin them again for today's #ttt.

You're probably already wondering how I know which songs these are; he probably has a DAB radio, and the name of the song and the artist is displayed on the screen. I don't have that; I have a regular FM radio in my car. But if I hear something interesting that I like, I remember about the time of the broadcast. Then I go to the Online Radio Box website, where there are thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands?) of daily radio playlists from all over the world. Then, depending on the time, I look for that song.
Well, that's the story :)

For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.
It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Today, I have some songs and artists I haven't heard before, and I didn't know them, so I only have a little to write about them. Yes, I'll get an immediate answer because I can look them up on Wikipedia or ask Gemini. Some are famous, some are less well-known musicians, and maybe you have heard some of them; I didn't know them until now, and I like that now I can dig deeper and look for more of their songs.

The Mike Flowers Pops – Light My Fire

Of course, it's a cover of The Doors' famous, eternal song, and I was intrigued when I heard it on the radio. Mike Flowers has a perfect voice and made a good arrangement, but the video made me laugh. A typical English dandy/cockney in a smart suit, with a ring on his pinky finger, is surrounded by an orchestral cast and band singing The Doors, who are the complete antipodes of this scene.
The singer, real name Michael Roberts, or the band The Mike Flowers Pops, is best known for his lounge covers of the big hits. No harm; I will listen to some more of his covers.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Ghostpoet - Off Peak Dreams

What first attracted me to this song were the vocals and the lyrics, which speak about difficulties and the feeling of being lost in a very original, melancholy way. The lyrics are very well supported by the music, which contains elements of hip-hop and experimental music, but in the end, there is a hope that tomorrow will be better.
Anyway, Ghostpoet, or Obaro Ejimiwe, is a musician based in Berlin, Germany. He has released five albums and one EP so far. This song is from his third album, Shedding Skin, released in 2015. I'll keep him on my radar.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Generator - Trouble Me

I was surprised to learn that this is a Slovenian band. Although they've been around since 2016, I haven't encountered them anywhere.
The song is from their last (and, as far as I saw, only) album, Open Eyes, from 2018. Anina Trobec provides very good vocals and lyrics, but all the other musicians are top-notch as well.
On Bandcamp, they say:

Electro-acoustic induction - generating electrical energy through motion.

🎡 🎧 🎡

As a bonus, another Slovenian band leans a bit towards psychedelic shoegaze β€” well, at least on the 2018 album Where If Not Now.
I know the band, but I've never heard this song before.

Haiku Garden - Caving

I don't know about you, but I like this music when I drive.

That's all for today, thank you for your attention.

This is my 53rd post for #threetunetuesday, which @ablaze started. I hope what I'm sharing is enjoyable for others, too, because then it makes sense.

I didn't hear this cover by Mike Flowers. I remember he had a Christmas number 1 hit with the Oasis hit Wonderwall at the time.
