New Tunes 7.10.2022
Hello music lovers! π΅π§π΅
What's new except that it's autumn? And that there are no more outdoor concerts, only indoor ones?
There's enough music for #newtunes and more to come. Here are some suggestions for the increasingly cold nights of the coming weekend. π
If you don't like something, just skip it.
This week I even wrote something for #threetunetuesday. What's it? Click the tag and you'll see.
Clutch - Slaughter Beach
The American underground rock band Clutch recently released a new album "Sunrise On Slaughter Beach". They won't disappoint, like any good friend. "Slaughter Beach" is the second single from this, their 13th album.
Good production, crisp drumming, and of course sharp guitars and vocals. Good, old Clutch, as usual.
Mina Okabe - Rain
Mine Okabe is a 21-year-old Danish-Japanese singer, known for her dreamy melodies that lead to strange imaginary places. She is a pop star in the making and has a new single "Rain" which will be just right for rainy autumn days.
For fans, of course.
Ε ajzerbiterlemon - Porivi
Punk trio Ε ajzerbiterlemon from Belgrade, Serbia, spent three years working on their second album "Na dugaΔkim poljima", which was released in May this year. With the first album, the trio launched into rawness, edginess, and rebellion, and we expected something of that with this new one.
This time they've moved away from punk a bit and into more rocking guitar riffs with sophisticated production. But they didn't move away from edginess and rebellion. They keep on sawing. Which is good.
Death's Dynamic Shroud - Fall For Me
This song is from "Darklife", the latest album by the American vaporwave trio, and marks a departure from the oversaturated post-internet music scene, whose value today lies only in how well it satisfies the need to intoxicate with nostalgia.
Well, they've shaken that off and taken their own conceptual path, which is also visible and audible in this song. The maximalist pop and manipulation of samples with original production and vocals suggest a new future and maybe a new genre. Highly recommended.
Ashenspire - Tragic Heroin
Ashenspire from Glasgow, UK, new band for me, deserves more exposure than it have. Inspired by post-industrial cities, and postmodern utilitarian architectural structures, with Scandinavian dissonance, metal psychedelia and avant-garde production, they put us in a state of reverie, while at the same time calling for action with interludes. From a situation where nothing can happen, we move to a state where everything is suddenly possible again.
Nite Fleit - Overload
Alysha Fleiter, aka Nite Fleit, is a musician of Australian roots from London, who turned from a primarily DJ career into producing soon after starting out. Her debut album, "Day Fleit / Nite Fleit", is an attempt to present her sounds in the form of combining sweet melodic elements and caustic bass lines without limiting the chronological sequence of both. The samples blend, intertwine and build upon each other, and the whole sounds like a single memory of a trace of surreality.
ACEPHALIX - Abyssal
God is dead. So says Acephalix on their new album Theothanatology, their fourth album. The rich sound of guitars is at the forefront. Slow tremolo riffs and primitive sawed passages dominate, backed by simple but effective drumming. The vocalist plays two vocals that jump between crooning and shouting, and occasionally we hear whispering or distant preaching. Undoubtedly old school death metal. Recommended for fans of the genre.
Crack Cloud - Tough Baby
This Canadian so-called mixed media studio exists since 2016 and tries to examine the cultural intersection between media and modern identity and deconstruct social stigmas through creative context.
In the latest release "Though Baby" they send the message that there is only one earth and that we all live on it. Clever.
ugh... there's a mess ... I need to change something ... this year ... maybe π
... anyway, if you're curious just click the dates and listen to songs ...
