First Friday in November and time for new suggestions for songs that will ring in your ears over the weekend and beyond! Well-known and lesser-known musicians are offering us, the listeners, their musical creations and are trying in every possible way to get a few minutes of our attention.
There is something for everyone in the vast amount of sounds and melodies that reach us every day.
#newtunes is here to make your choice easier.
Apart from a few minutes of your time, listening to new music costs you absolutely nothing. And musicians deserve our support, if not by buying, at least by listening.
Of course, if something is not to your taste, you can skip it right away.

Oridano Gypsy Jazz Band - Hyperswing
Oridano Gypsy Jazz Band is a Croatian gypsy jazz ensemble from Grožnjan. They have been performing since 2010, drawing on the sound of the legendary Django Reinhardt.
The power of their musicianship is evident in their virtuosity, which sovereignly seduces the listener until the last second. And so it is in this new Hyperswing track announcing their activities and a new album for next year. Very subtle and nice.
Kvelertak - Endling
Kvelertak is Norwegian band from Stavanger. They have been performing since 2007 and have released five studio albums to date, most recently 'Endling' in September this year. They have won several Norwegian music awards and supported Metallica on world tours from 2016 to 2019. Their music is close to black metal, they're fans of classic rock with a slightly punkish twist. They mostly sing in Norwegian. All together very melodic.
The Thunder Corpses - Speaking in Tongues
The Thunder Corpses is a new garage-surf-rock band from Knjaževac, Serbia. I mentioned them back in September when they released their first single.
Their debut album 'Somewhere Over the Black Bay' has been out for about a month now, and it quickly caught the attention of the regional music community.
With a specific combination of surf and garage rock elements, wrapped in a veil of punk and lo-fi aesthetics has created a new and exciting sound that transcends the region and has so far been embraced by music critics and audiences everywhere they play.
I chose the only instrumental track from the album that suggests a different role and their roots from where they come from. You will hear the psychedelic sound of the Balkans in their own way.
I recommend the whole album. I bought it for €2.
Darkside - Paper Trails
Duo Darkside was formed in Providence in 2011 by Chilean electronic musician Nicolás Jaar and American multi-instrumentalist Dave Harrington, and their debut album 'Psychic' from 2013 received immediate critical acclaim.
This October, they re-released an expanded, digital version of 'Psychic (Expanded)' which contains three new songs, including 'Paper Trails'.
As they say themselves, they are trying to blur the lines between rock music and techno sound. And they're doing a pretty good job of it.
Jethro Tull – Hammer On Hammer
A band I used to listen to a lot in my youth, along with other greats from that era, maybe I've forgotten it a bit lately?
Well, here we have the twenty-third studio album RökFlöte from May this year. I wouldn't say too much about a band that belongs to the first league of rock dinosaurs, certainly, all music lovers know them. They've had their ups and downs but 'Too old to rock'n'roll, too young to die' still applies to them.
Ian Anderson may not have such a strong voice anymore, but he still plays the flute perfectly and he hasn't run out of ideas for good lyrics.
Cleo Sol - Things Will Get Better
Cleo Sol is an English singer, perhaps best known as a member of the Sault. Her new album Gold is her third solo album in which she continues to build on her R'n'B/neo-soul style.
With her soft arrangements, piano accompaniment, and soap-sounding beats, and above all with her vocals, with which she moves from the lower to the higher registers, she sovereignly leads the melodies and lyrics, calming us down, encouraging us, and bringing back optimism and hope to this completely crazy world of ours, which, at least to me, seems to have gone off the rails.
YOUFF - Sunshine
Youff is a Belgian band, who released their seventh studio album 'Heydays' about a week ago. They work exclusively in the noise genre, which, apart from its rawness, is also characterized by its tendency towards disorder, transience, and the impermanence of ideas, as well as its constant questioning and opposition to established musical trends.
This kind of music deliberately evades the expectations of mainstream audiences and seeks to satisfy them through a rebellion against harmony, pushing itself into a corner in which artistic existence and subsistence are all but assured.
Well, Youff has been around for ten years and is successfully surviving the harsh nature of the music industry.
The dynamics of the raw power of the guitars and the wild rhythm of the percussion are complemented by the neurotic vocals, which go from bizarre screams to dirty jerks, deepening the absurdity of the sonic chaos and are reduced to the role of an instrument.
I'm going to look at them on Monday and maybe take a video.
Earl Sweatshirt + The Alchemist - Vin Skully
And finally, a little hip-hop. From the pens of Chicago rhymer Earl Sweatshirt and Californian producer, The Alchemist comes the new album Voir Dire.
The producer's signature selection of playful samples and a coating of tape noises is the backdrop, with the vocals in the foreground conjuring up the nostalgic, dreamy comfort of personal memory, interwoven with the symbolism of post-colonial struggle, self-sufficiency and optimism. Let's say.

You give the gypsies the stage right at the beginning. I always thought they should come at the end. Then, when you can make a wish for the song, a bank note changes hands and the golden tooth has its day. Times have changed. Now they sit together in Istria and simply make great gypsy jazz.
At first I thought that the Norwegian beat wouldn't really find its way into my ears - but it seems to be a long way from Knjaževac to my auditory organ.
Paper Trails, after reading your introduction, which can lead to prejudices, surprised me in an extremely positive way.
Cleo Sol should firmly believe in the title of their song: Things will get better!
What can I say to the Earl in the sweatshirt? Being influenced by dubious Alchemists doesn't always seem to go down well with him?

Quite a collection here! I'm working my way through the songs. Kvelertak rocks hard! I can see the Metallica influence in the song and the video.
In the description for The Thunder Corpses video you mentioned #garagerock which is a tag I pretty much own on here :D I'll have to seek out more of their stuff since this track leans more toward psychedelic or noise or experimental music.
I see a new Tull tune in here, which is news to me. I haven't heard anything new from them in decades so I'll listen to that one next.

Thanks for stopping by. Unlike other Norwegian bands, which are usually death/brutal/black metal, Kvelertak is more melodic.
