Hello, music lovers! ๐ŸŽถ

One week has passed, and I'm happy to share a fresh #newtunes selection of songs from different genres.
This week's selection is eclectic, ranging from well-known classics to lesser-known gems, and I hope it will brighten up your weekend.

If you're a fan of rock, jazz, classical, or something else, and if you have a few minutes to spare, you'll find something for yourself in #newtunes.
But if you don't like something, skip it.

Post Malone - I Had Some Help (feat. Morgan Wallen)

We'll start with "slick pop" (note: that's my label, don't feel bad about it), which refers to global pop music suitable for all ears and all ages.
Post Malone is probably one of the biggest pop stars in that sense, and he has decided to release his first country single. Cool.
But sometimes, I can't help but ask myself: is this what we've been striving for? (But then again, who am I to think anyone would care about my thoughts?)
Judge for yourself.

The Jesus And Mary Chain - Silver Strings

Silver Strings is the fourth single from the Jesus and Mary Chain's latest album, Glasgow Eyes, which was recently released. A new album from this Scottish noise-pop band after seven years, and I've mentioned it several times recently.
I enjoy the content, and this album marks their big comeback. To be clear, they haven't gone anywhere to make a comeback. They've always been around, sometimes more exposed than at other times, but the consistency and harmony in their sound have always been there.

LIILY - More

Liily is an American band from Los Angeles, active since 2016. They are a new name, and I have just followed them. So far, they have released one EP and two albums; the song More is from their last album of the same name, which came out at the beginning of the month. I could put them in a post-punk or indie drawer. Rhythmic and punchy sound with a strong bass line. Clearly, they want something more. But will they succeed? We'll see.

๐ŸŽต ๐ŸŽง ๐ŸŽต

Fishtalk - Cheers

Fishtalk is a noise-shoegaze band from Caen, France. They have released two albums, the last one, Out, in April this year. All their works deal with society and its decay and, on the other hand, some individuals' destructive desire for power.
Fishtalk's music powerfully expresses mixed emotions, anger, and a final surge of rebellion against the status quo. This emotional journey is skillfully crafted through a blend of noise, indie rock, and ambient, accompanied by thought-provoking verses that subtly convey political messages.

Shellac - WSOD

In March, American power trio Shellac announced their sixth studio album, To All Trains, for release in early May. The band has been working independently of the music scene since the early 1990s, performing whenever they feel like it. In terms of creativity, sound, and attitude towards the music industry, they may be one of the last, if not the last, indie band in the original sense of the word.
But its future is in doubt. About a week before its release, the band's frontman, Steve Albini, a cult figure in audio production, passed away unexpectedly. You can read more about him in the #threetunetuesday post here.
The WSOD song I chose is typical of theirs regarding guitar riffs and bass lines over percussion.

Body Count - Psychopath (feat. Joe Bad)

Body Count, an American band playing old-school crossover (a mix of hip hop and metal) since their formation in 1990, has released the single 'Psychopath' as a prelude to their seventh album, 'Merciless,' after a four-year gap.
The intense and relentless sound in the single shows that the legendary Ice T and his crew have not run out of energy after 35 years. They have announced a world tour, with a show in Zagreb, the nearest city to me, coming up soon on 16 June.

Robby Krieger & the Soul Savages - Samosas & Kingfishers

Robby Krieger needs no introduction. Or? The guitarist of the legendary band The Doors could have been enjoying royalties for 50 years and doing nothing. But no. At seventy-eight, he released his debut album with Robby Krieger & the Soul Savages, his thirty-third.
Playing and recording what you want, uncommitted and relaxed, as only great musicians can, is pure artistry.
Jazz, fusion, groove, or blues? The whole sound picture is a testament to the fact that music, at its core, is about enjoyment. It's suitable for everyone who wants to immerse themselves in the joy of listening without any prerequisites or expectations.

Canned Heat - East/West Boogie (Instrumental)

In April, canned Heat, the American band making rock and blues history since 1965, released a new album, Finyl Vinyl, featuring ten new original songs. After over sixty years of playing, they're not ready for retirement. The music is old but fresh.
For this, I've handpicked an instrumental East/West Boogie, a unique and rare gem in their repertoire, where the mouth harmonica takes center stage, adding a distinctive flavor to the music.
Anyone who loves Canned Heat and this genre of music will not be left indifferent.

๐ŸŽถThat's all for today, and enjoy your weekend and holidays with new songs!

Post Malone - Once upon a time there was hip-hop. Maybe that's for the best! The sound of American country music is not one of those things that I absolutely have to listen to, but it's all right here. But nothing more than that!
The Jesus and Mary Chain - When the two brothers aren't bashing each other's skulls in, they can also make good music. Perhaps a bit too much electronic stuff. But good.
Liily - What actually starts out very interesting unfortunately makes me more and more nervous as the song goes on.
Fishtalk - The trip to the coast of Normandy was definitely worth it. I have to allow myself more time here to explore a little bit more musically.
Canned Heat - Although none of the original members are still around (maybe Adolfo "Fito" de la Parra), they still have blues-rock down pat. You might even consider buying.

Thank you for your comprehensive comment. I would only add that I like adding electronic sounds on this new Jesus and Mary Chain album.
Maybe that covered some of the emptiness or silence that appeared with the new songs. Or is it easier now with all these new gadgets you have in every studio? Who knew...
