Beer Tasting at HiveFest 2024
Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
Today, I am still under the impression of Hive Fest. It was a great event!
Although I could not stay until the end, I came back home yesterday. Now, I'm slowly trying to relive it all somehow, selectively.
Some of it will be worth posting. Many posts about the event are already being published daily, so I can't pretend to be clever here; most of it is already written.
I will try to contribute some moments of this remarkable event to the community.
I'm doing it today with a beer from Hive Fest in hand - not just any beer, but one brewed at the flagship Web 3 Brewery.
As @detlev mentioned, 375 weeks of #BeerSaturday is quite an achievement. What do you think? It's been seven years since then! Persevering for that long in something only means one thing: it's working well.
And if something is working well, then, in my opinion, it shouldn't be changed :)
And since today is 376 #beersaturday, I will, as I mentioned before, try two beers from the leading Web 3 Brewery, Meta Brew Society, from Naila, Bavaria, Germany, who sponsored Hive Fest 2024 with 240 cold cans.
It's an exciting story about this brewery and how it came to be, especially for crypto lovers, but it can be mapped onto all aspects of human activity, not just beer drinking.
You can listen to the details of how to connect real life with digital life here, in the live stream of the Beer community presentation
Mathäser Bräu Helles
Although we were in Diocletian's Palace's cellar, it was quite hot, but the beer cooled down well under the ice. And, of course, I have to thank @metabrew for the beer!
I took this out of the box.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.2% ABV, IBU N/A.
The sip went smoothly down the throat with a pleasant, malty sweetness. Hop bitterness, fruity aromas, slight caramel, and herbs followed.
A slight hop bitterness lingered in the aftertaste for some time.
A drinkable, refreshing, classic Bavarian Helles-style beer. I managed to pick up another one :)
MetaBrew Bavarian Dark Ale
That's what I had at home. Dark Ale is best when you drink it from a glass.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 2.5% ABV, IBU N/A.
The alcohol content is low, which means you can have more :)
What do the Master Brewers say?
Naturally cloudy and dark, our BDA presents a complex and interesting blend of dark fruits on the nose, such as plums and raisins, conveyed by our special ale yeast strain. Once in the mouth, it hits you with an almost "icy" feeling reminiscent of licorice. As it passes through your throat, you can feel a moderate bitterness and hints of roasty malts that delight the mouth and invite another sip. Once again, this is an easy drinking and refreshing brew from Meta Brew Society.
🍺
It is opaque brown, with little foam, and has no particular smell. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, and in the mouth, I first taste the bitterness of roasted malt, which is not too intense. This is followed by the slight sweetness of licorice and aromas of prunes and cloves.
In the aftertaste, everything disappears except the bitterness of the roasted malt.
It's a tasty beer, the aromas and flavours are shyer, but it's all very balanced and drinkable.
The alcohol content is low, sometimes that meant the beer was watery, but I didn't get that feeling with this one. I would happily drink at least one more. It's a shame I didn't have another :(
And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? I didn't listen to much music this week, except on the way to Split and back. I also didn't post #newtunes.
So I'm trying to catch up, first with the old one.

Will look up the links and learn more about the Web 3 brewery and 375 weeks, unbroken. That is a huge achievement.
As far as I can remember, #beersaturday was one of the first contests on blockchain, and BEER was one of the first communities.

Cheers! 🍻
Not a beer fan here but I swear these all look so tasty that I would have loved to try them out lol!
They were tasty, both of them. But, if you go to their site, you can buy an NFT and get the box directly to your doors each year. :)
Woah, that's interesting! Will definitely look into that :)
Both beers sound good. I usually like Helles. The dark beer has a surprisingly low ABV. You don't see that low very often.
Yeah, they were good. I agree that the dark one has a low ABV; usually, that kind of beer has a watery taste, but this one does not.
