Train Spotting - Monomad Challenge
Hail to the Hive!
So I’ve been shuttling back and forth between Devon and Wiltshire recently, from work to boat and back again. It has been a grind, but I do like train travel and there is always an opportunity for a good photo here and there and sometimes one that begs for a little monochromatic loving, as is the case here with these I have for you today.
Now the route seems to change from one week to the next. Sometimes I go from Swindon to Reading and then to Newton Abbot and sometimes they send me via Bristol. i guess it all depends on timings and the crapness of their efficiency. I mean it’s not Japan or indeed Mussolini’s Italy. I think I prefer the Japanese option of those two examples of train efficiency if I’m honest.
But as I wait on platforms for whatever the allotted train and route I am to take I have a watchful eye open to take a nice shot.
I do confess that on this occasion while snapping away I was aware that I could be mistaken or the nerdiest of nerds that ever deigned to enter the Valhalla of nerdiness, and that is……the ‘Train Spotter!’
But I care not. I care not cos I happen to embrace the nerd in anyone, anyone that embraces their love of whatever it maybe that they are passionate about. And I can see the allure of trains and their environment.
There is definitely something to love about it. I personally love traveling by train and like to sample it wherever I may be.
Do you concur? Do you also love this mode of transportation? You probably do if you sit and think about it.
If you really think about it and remember also all the movies that embrace this nerdy fascination too, I think it’s in all of us in some shape or form.
Don’t you think?

And here I always thought trainspotting was about heroin.
On a more serious note, I enjoy riding the trains, just wish we had a few more of them here.
You’ll be getting an anorak and a notebook to write the train numbers down next it’s a slippy slope
And a weak lemon cordial drink
Coco in a flask on a cold day
