Through the Bridge and into the Lock. Going up- Monomad Challenge
Hail to the Hive!
No matter how many locks we do there's something different about them all. SOme , just like people, have more charm and personality than others ans this lovely lock just outside the little village of Fenny Compton was very cute.
As we approached I was already struck by the setting and nice surroundings, lock house and well kept foliage, teimmed and neat on the lock house side.
I could spy the entrance to the lock just beyond the small low bridge coming up in front of me.
With only just as much room as needed to slide the narrowboat in to the waiting lock I slowly chug chug chugged my way into it in slow motion with @millycf1976 waiting patiently to close the lock gaye behind me.
It's unavoidable and you do hit the sides of the gate and lock, ever so gently, as there are only inches to spare either side and you can not leave your fenders dangling down or you will get jammed in. I've been through that and it's annoying, frustrating and embarrassing.
We have now done hundreds of locks of all diffrent styles and sizes and as much as they slow you down they are essential and we've grown to love them. They are what gives the canal its uniqueness as a man made waterway climbing up and down the landscape allowing us to explore in slow motion the beauty of the network.

You in a narrow boat on the canals is synonymous of lovely photos in #monomad!... I remember my first days in #Hive (2022) when I saw for the first time your photos taken on the river canals!... Awwww... I was enchanted!... Just like now!.... These photos are still visually complex and eloquent postcards @scubahead friend.... A round of applause for you and @millycf1976!...
