The scratching became a little louder and she knew it was no longer the trees brushing over her window. This time it was against wood and the trees have been specifically trimmed to not touch the side panels of the wood anymore, even with this wind it should not come near the wood. She decided to get up and look outside, the wind howled and the tap-tap-tap of the one branch left for her window was still where it should be, providing just the right kind of white noise.

There goes the scratching again, but this time she jumped as it was right behind her, against her door! She flung herself around and looked at her door through the dim light. She could not see any shadow from under her door... Is she imagining all of this? Is it a dream? She thought it might be and got back into bed. As soon as she turned around to face her bed the moon's shadow gleamed over her covers and froze her completely. There on the covers, clear as day, were animal tracks. Large wolf-like prints went over her bed and as she looked down the other side of her bed, there they were... two large red eyes...

She gave a massive scream and woke herself, sweat droplets cool on her forehead. It was just a dream. There are no prints. No eyes. Only silence and the soft tap of one rogue branch. Tap... Tap... Scraaaatch...
