IND v SA T20i series || Deep Analysis - Where India Is Going Wrong ? #SportsAnalysis
The ongoing India South Africa T20 Series is quickly turning into one of those things which the hosts never really expected to happen. In the five-match series, South Africa is leading by 2-0 right now after the two matches that have been played, and right now India needs to win all of the remaining three games in order to win the series.
How did India end up in this situation and what can be done in order to prevent a complete whitewash or even an attempt to win the series let's deep dive into the topic completely.
What happened in the games ?
1st T20i
In the first match, South Africa won the toss and elected to field first where India did displayed a batting master class and put 211 runs on the scoreboard and that was needed to be chased down by South Africa in order to win the game. It seemed India's game after first innings of the match as well as even the halfway stage of the second innings as well but after that David Miller and Rassie Van Der Dussen stepped up and took the game away and won it for South Africa from unbelievable circumstances.
In the first inning, India started off quite nicely with the help of Ishan Kishan who scored 76 odd runs off just 48 Falls which helped India reach the massive total of over 200 as well as the end finishing which was done by Hardik Pandya very nicely off 12 balls he scored 31 runs.
In the second innings too till about 10th or 12th over it seemed quite India's game as the required run rate was well over 14 and there were not many batters to come after the partnership which was going on between David Miller and Rassie. Although David Miller was going at a strike rate of over 200 but at the same and Rassie was not able to get over the hundred strike rate. But once he was dropped by Shreyas Iyer which was quite an easy catch, he switched gears immensely and scored about 75 runs from 46 balls where he once was 30 runs of 32 balls which is a really massive inning at the end.
2nd T20i
Now we talk about the second game then, it was held in Cuttack which was quite a slow pitch which was not easy to bat on and the Indian team again lost the toss having to bat first and just managed 149 runs which was quite a poor batting display.
And quite like the first game India was looking to win the game quite easily but in the middle overs, but again South Africa found a batsman who this time was Henrich Klassen who ended up scoring 81 runs of 46 deliveries. In the end, South Africa quite easily won the game with over 10 balls remaining.
Where did India go wrong ?
- Well to be honest it's most probably the team selection that has been done for this entire series all those the big players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah; all of them are not available for this series but picking a side just based on IPL is not quite the thing to go at the international level. The squad has completely been selected on IPL performances and all the IPL Stars from the Indian contingent have been selected.
- Apart from that the removal of KL Rahul as a captain as well which he was because of that injury and also the very big reason is that Rishabh pant is not a very experienced captain not either in the IPL as well.
- And one more very big reason is definitely going to be the draught of wickets in the middle overs for India. The spinners of India are not doing the job as it is expected from them and that is definitely one of the reasons which are why India is costing matches.
What can be done?
Well at the moment it seems really tough to stop the high fly in South Africa which is in form and is filled with players were quite spectacular in performing right now, in contrast India is quite playing with players who can't definitely be relied on because most of them do not have much international experience.
Umran Malik is one of the X factors that India can definitely use because he has express pace which he can use to bowl 150 km per hour delivery every single ball.
As well as someone in the entire batting lineup has to take the responsibility of entering the innings because everyone is trying to completely demolish the ball and that is costing wickets every now and then no one is meant to anchor the innings and take it deep.
Conclusion
Well India no doubt is filled with talented players and they do can display their talent anytime but right now on the international stage, it's not quite the performance that you would expect from them. But definitely, once the big guns return to action India will definitely be a different-looking team.
