Planting a seed

When I cut vegetables like raw cucumber, I collect the seeds and then throw them in a place where I know they will be sure to sprout. Places like muddy areas where it is likely to collect water and already have green grass and the like. The mud will be more soft and the ground will not be hard enough.

A few months ago, I had thrown cucumber and melon seeds and now I plucked a healthy cucumber. Sadly, that is the only one that did grow well enough. I hope to plant more along the way. At least, I got one vegetable that is totally organic and not sprayed with all types of poisonous pesticides.

The cucumber can be used in a lot of curries and is really good for human health. It is a cooling vegetable that can even be consumed raw. The one I mentioned here is slightly different from the salad cucumber that can be eaten only raw. There are different varieties and there is one that bursts open on ripening and people eat it along with sugar. It is really delicious but I am somehow averse to it.

The one thing that makes the cucumber really good is the amount of water content in it. It is therefore very apt for the summer season. Cucumber juice is also good for those aiming for weight loss. It can be had during the morning and make sure not to strain the parts as it contains vital nutrients and fiber too.

Planting seeds and cultivating your own vegetables is one of the most satisfying tasks that should be encouraged and promoted. I would suggest gifting plant saplings instead of sweets and processed foods when you intend to do so. It is not only cheaper but also spreads the message of 'go green'. Imagine all the money saved when you buy a plant sapling for a gift instead of a brand of clothing or bag as a gift.

People are now realizing the importance of preserving the planet more than ever before. Climate change is more evident and instances of sudden floods and other natural disasters are more common. I remember reading a comment made on an online forum years back about a flood on an eastern island. It was very derogatory and years later, the floods have now started occurring in places that have never witnessed such events before.
Nobody is cursed because they belong to a certain country or follow a certain religion. No religion is above the other and in fact, religion is only a means to appreciate the power that (if you so believe) is above us, below us, around us, inside us. No human is superior either. All are equal perhaps not in terms of money or education or character but they are 'of the flesh'. The sooner, people realize it, the better it would be and we can still save the planet from destruction. There would be no more wars and the money can be used to strengthen the planet.

Please plant a seed at least once a week and watch it grow. Do your bit and let us regain the confidence that the planet will be around for generations to come.
